DukeE Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 They forgot paint overspray and brush swipes, and something glued to a finger
Tom Geiger Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I have a good size nick in my left thumb nail. I was cutting door shims Friday and the jig saw jumped. Ouch!
Snake45 Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I stuck a chisel-point Xacto into my palm the other day. Ouch!
Classicgas Posted December 29, 2019 Posted December 29, 2019 I've stuck a #11 a good 1/8" into a finger.

Cheers and yes I've poked the end of a brand new #11 into my finger...and watched as the tip is expelled over the next week ... Edited December 30, 2019 by Belugawrx
stavanzer Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Had a #11 roll off a table, and stick into my thigh. Went in almost the whole length of the blade. Took almost a year before that one was totally healed, and I still get aches in that spot sometimes. 20 years ago, and I suspect that the muscles never did mend properly.
LL3 Model Worx Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 This little wound here... I was cutting a tire away from a rim on a glubomb... I wanted the wheels but they had been glued solid into some really bad tires. So whilst attempting the cut the #11 slipped and went strait across my finger to the bone. It sucked...
Fat Brian Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I stabbed a #11 throught my left middle fingernail when I was 11 or so. I also filleted my left thumb, cutting from the middle of the tip under the nail and out behind it. (Insert throwing up emoji)

After the thumb one I ran to to the bathroom to run it under water and contain the blood and I passed out a little. I also got super glue in my eye around the same time. Fortunately it doesn't stick well to wet eye parts.
1972coronet Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 No images to share , but... 1.) Sliced the knuckle of the middle finger on my right hand open on the exposed-barb of a metal-spiral-bound hose at work . That stung like mad ! Had a volcano on my knuckle for about a month afterward ; I called it "Mount Olym-Pus" and would squeeze "Knuckle Hummus" out of it under running water . 2.) Had a Staph Infection on the outer-index finger of my left hand . It was a painful , burning-hot , bright red "bulb" --- I got it from an ages-old wooden pallet at work . I was this close to slicing it open with a fresh , sanitised #11 blade , but I couldn't bring myself to do it . A trip to the urgent care centre (for antibiotics and Tylenol 4) --- and the attending P.A. to slice that bulb open with a #11 blade .

Luckily I got it washed out pretty quick. Then... a few years back I laid my finger across a high voltage contact relay and blew my fingernail vertical... my lips turned blue. Not a fun time. Then about 2yrs ago I caught my right pointer finger in a peice of moving machinery... luckily I had just enough strength to pull the machine with my left arm long enough to overheat the motor and trip the overload. (pulled my shoulder out of place) then with my finger still inside causing a bind, I had to act fast with a screwdriver to pry my finger out before it got sheared off... My finger was so flat after it was pretty unrealistic... it squeezed so hard, it blew the meat out from under my cuticle. But I finally got feeling back in it now. Silly mistakes, that can cost dearly...

Years ago I was hooking up a pull behind air compressor to a dump truck and it flipped back catch my right middle and ring fingers between the pintle and the bottom of the dump bed. It broke both fingers a lot and pushed the first joint of my middle finger through the skin. They still work but my middle finger is a bit wonky.

Yea that's pretty bad... a buddy of mine smashed the from the whole tip of his finger off hooking up a trailer similar to your story. That's a good lookin LP body you have there...
ChrisBcritter Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Managed to get a second degree burn with an Auto Cutter forty years ago - I blanked and tried to steady the blade with my thumb as I was cutting a chassis for one of my more insane projects. Oh - it was a '61 Olds F-85 wagon midengine funny car with gullwing rear doors . I kinda soured on the project after that, but waste not want not - I ended up using the rear of it to blend with a coupe body to make a baby El Camino. Maybe once I get the '65 Nova and '58 Ford out of the way I should get back on that one...

I'm hoping to start staining tomorrow, I'm doing a no burst/lemon burst/honey burst top on it with a carmelish back. I'll see exactly how it pans out but I just want something really classic and old looking.

Yea,I'm familiar with them. I was going to suggest leather dye... works very well and gives you that worn in (not reliced) look right off the bat. Hope it turns out awesome!
mrmike Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 I was trimming a part with my knife and the knife was being held loosely in my hand. The blade got caught in the plastic and the knife with a fresh new blade popped out of my fingers, hit my leg and then landed on my shoe. I got up to get a bandage for my bleeding finger and when I got to the bathroom, my left pants leg was soaked with blood. I called my wife to get me a new pair of jeans while I sat on the toilet and applied a paper towel to my leg with pressure. My wife saw all the blood on my jeans and called for an ambulance. By the time they had arrived a few minutes later, the bleeding had stopped. I had followed my first aid training and everything was fine. The blade had entered the top of my thigh and went in 1/4 inch deep into my thigh, through my jeans and missed any arteries. Afterwards, I grabbed a bottle of water and rested for the afternoon away from the modeling bench.
Rocking Rodney Rat Posted December 30, 2019 Posted December 30, 2019 Years ago the X-Acto knife rolled off the bench and landed (blade #11) point down in my thigh. I pulled the blade out quickly. I had a small tear in my Levi's for a long time.... -RRR
