Check it out.  Haven't seen one of these up close before.  I like it all but the color.  Ugh.  I bought it with no idea what color it was.  But it was cheap, so it's ok.  Suggestions for paint?  I would like a nice sky blue.  Other ideas?  More two tone?  What kind might have F-100 fender decals?  That's all that's on the body sides?  Moebius kits?

Wife's dad had a light green 74 so that's out there as well.

Well my thought was to cover the blue with white.  It may get a total repaint and see if I can find some F-100 decals

Randy that's much nicer than the 10 dollar cheapo from Walmart. Red and white or that bright yellow I've seen in the brochures from the '70s are my picks. I like those Lincolns too!

I think the light green will be the choice.  Wife's dad connection and all.   I'll print off some emblems from the internet, detail the grill and trim a bit.  Maybe some half round in the coves for lower level trim. Should transform it completely.

The Lincolns are a thing with my wife and me.  The navy is hers, the light blue is mine.  And there is the regular common run burgundy one in another part of the house.   The navy is supposedly fairly rare.   It was supposed to be a Ford dealer award, I think?

Well, put some light green on it.  Trying to make a tribute truck that my wife's dad had.  This is NOT the right green though.  It is however, much better than the blue and gray.

Going to try to either mix some green or find a closer color.

Randy, I'm diggin' that green, it looks much better.??

Thanks, Geno.  I like it much better, too.  But the wife is dictating whether it can stay or go.   If I can mix up something closer to the factory light green that Ford used, then I may shoot another color on it this weekend.  It's going to end a up a tribute truck to be similar to one her dad owned back in the day.   I'm going to print up some door signs for it too.

Sounds great Randy, keep us posted. Blessings Buddy.

Which green are you going after? There were a number of different light greens available on these trucks. One of my favorites was a light green metallic.

Gotcha!

One nice thing right now is that automotive supply stores are still open. Napa has a line of paint called Martin Senior,  also look in your directory for Industrial Finishes.  They have a few different lines of paint. Being that it is a solid color they should be able to mix a few ounces, like for a touch up bottle. Tell them you want a single stage enamel or urethane.  It might help if you go in and ask to look at a color chart from 1973 so you can give them a color code if you do not already have one. I did this with a 67 Mustang because I wanted an OEM color. If you go the extra mile for your wife, it will definitely earn you brownie points.  ?

That's the ticket! Its even Martin Senior from Napa.  Looks like you have two choices.  The one that was my favorite is the Limestone Green. That color really dazzles in the sun.

Here it is repainted.  This is sublime mixed with white.  The real color is lighter than the photo.  This will work.

The color on your father in laws pickup looks a lot like Model Masters Diamond Green. If you find a source for the F-100 decals, please let me know. I need a set for a tribute build to my late father.

I * think* I'm just going to print some on regular paper, cut them out and white glue them.   This will give them a bit of dimension and be easy to do with what I have on hand.  We'll see if it really works like my mind says it will.  LOL  I already have art for a  nice F100 and Custom script.   And a set of signs for the doors I made up at work.  "Junior's Gentleman Farm".   He always wanted to be a gentleman farmer in his off time as a policeman.  And when he retired.   Reality wasn't kind to him though.   We lost him in Dec 2019.  So this will help my wife have another momento to him.

None of this is 100% accurate as the FIL's truck was a 76 and had no signs.   My wife doesn't remember the interior color but I've never seen one with anything other than dark green seats, dashpad, and door panels.

The photo I posted looks like straight up Sublime paint, BUT there is more white than green in the mix.   It's much lighter looking to the eye than to the camera.

Ah those were the days.  Just LOOK at the colors available.  More than white and sahdes to black and one red and maybe a blue like today.   I think the Winter Green is what the wife thinks it was.  It's all fuzzy memories for her.  But something had to be done to get rid of that gray/blue as bought.

Yep.   The color I mixed is much closer than the first green which would be the limestone green if it were a "poly" color.   Hopefully the finished truck photos will show the color better.  The phone camera really saturated this green.   Being it's Testor's enamel, it will take a while to cure enough to handle.   Just putting it together for this photo was scary.  This was just long enough in the dehydrator to get it dry enough to lightly handle.

Here it is.  Complete or close to.  I may or may not go back and do a little more, but it works for now.  I need to put the wipers on and I have some printed F100 and Custom scripts.
