Plowboy Posted May 2, 2020 Share Posted May 2, 2020 I built this years ago when the last reissue came out. At first, I had it like the side boxart sans the goofy headlights. But, it had the tail down stance and I added the fender skirts. Then, the chrome reverse wheels didn’t seem to fit with the skirts. So, I changed those out to the smooth wheel covers. Finally satisfied. It's just a simple build of a simple kit and while it didn't come out like my original vision of it. It did finally come around. espo Posted May 2, 2020 Share Posted May 2, 2020 Great looking build and I like the era styling also. I have to agree with Ace's mention of the front end fitment problems with this kit. I have built a couple of these and as he pointed out it can be a battle royal to get every part to play nice with each other. Looks like you won that battle here. The sides are simply Revell '32 sides with styrene added to the ends, cut and shaped to fit. On the hood and trunk, I used the same louvers cut into individual strips and grafted them in. I get that you wanted to keep it simple and I think you did that exceptionally well but boy, I would love to see it with a chopped carson top. Then it would go from being great to stellar, at least in my eyes. Your bodywork on all those louvred panels is exceptional. If I could find a Carson top that would fit without a lot of work and I wouldn't have to chop the windshield frame/glass, I would use one. For some reason though, I like the way the stock roof looks.
