To the untrained eye, it looks no different, but this is a week's worth of on & off polishing! ready for final masking and painting...

not perfect, but good enough for me!

Cracking kit, but why not in 1/24th scale instead. Cannot understand why Airfix stick with this scale that now very few manufacturers work in.

The irony is that they have made their Lego like clip together car kits in 1/24th scale aimed at kids to knock up in less than an hour.

They already have the licences from VW Bugatti for the Veyron and are soon releasing a Chiron in that range. Just a crying shame that they were not proper plastic kits as they do not appear in other manufacturers ranges.

There is an Alpha Resins kerb side Chiron kit but very expensive.

I like it !!  Just out of curiosity, do the instructions give any clue what the line of three holes are for ... at the rear of each door opening ... rear brake ducts?

Yes definitely Night racing lights, I have seen them up close at the great race!

From the lemans.org site:

"Which car is leading in each class?

This is a question that trackside spectators often ask. The answer is easy: each car has three diodes on each side, known as the Leader Light System. If a single light is lit, it means the car is class leader. Two diodes lit indicate the second-placed car and three the third. If no diodes are lit, the car is further down the standings. The system comes into its own at night."

As is often the case in this hobby, 3 steps forward, one step back!

I  thought about how to mount the rear spoiler for clear coat. I failed at one attempt to mount on the recesses and spray it all in one go. It kept falling off from the pressure of the airbrush.

So, I did the top side first, masked and did the bottom after.

Top side with 2k zero seen here

Body looks awesome!

Thanks Slush!

I have sanded the underside from 400 grit to 1000 grit Tamiya wet and dry

Then masked for touching up the black where I'd sanded through the base coat to the primer.

Unfortunately, when taking the Tamiya tape off, it pulled some of the clear coat with it... But I'm not looking for perfection here.

I went ahead and clear coated - this time with zero 2k.

It came out far from perfect, but to my eyes, it's s save!

BEAUTIFUL job!!!!.....its a save to me as well!!.....its the underside that helps save it!

Thanks Dann, yet another build giving me heartache.

Made a rookie mistake, I did glue in the headlamp lenses with PVA, then u messed up and put the light cluster in with CA, and it fogged up... Well be taken apart and sanded...

Taken apart, the clear parts were sanded, polished, waxed, redid the eyeliner, the lamp units had to be sanded and re-sprayed. Back to where we were!

The wing mirror pieces were almost 2 times too big to fit. A lot of the supporting material had to be cut to fit, the 2nd photo shows one before, and one after the chop

The front bumper wouldn't fit due to a clash between the extreme top left and right back areas of this front end air intake, they were clashing with the underside of the lamp units.

The 2nd image shows how much had to be cut to get it to fit

Net up will be finished images, unless I have any further disasters!
