I would like to build something like this (seen at a show in Saskatoon in 2008). I have the suburban, now I need to find a boat. Open to suggestions. Thanks. And while we are at it, is anyone aware of a 1:24/25 portable generator? I fdound one on Shapeways but I am not sure if I like it.

I have the bass boat from the gone fishing set , probably not the right theme your going for though

Trailer too?

That boat reminds me of one that sat on the back lot of a boat dealer near where I worked in the early '80s. It was about the same size, and had tail fins, though not the sculpted/sylized sides like this one. Up front, there were two round flat spots where one could obviously mount headlights if one wished. Pretty cool--we'd call it "that '50s boat."

There's nothing I know of that's quite like that but the AMT speed boat with all the customizing parts is probably the best place to start to make your own.

The Coronado is a bit overscale (1/22) and has no trailer, and they are getting harder to find, but this might be the best bet. Or one of the 1980's AMT Bat Boats, in a Retro '50's paint job.

I also thought the AMT 3'n1 customizing boat would work, but I suspect the boat pictured is more modern, and has been modified to look retro?

Here's what's inside the AMT kit: https://modelkitreviews.proboards.com/thread/751/1-25-amt-customizing-boat

Thanks Casey. It doesn't have to be the same. I think the mahogany runabout would look great. The only problem is making it look great.?

I think it's authentic. See the links I posted. Looks like it wasn't the only thing of that kind back in the day, either!

Just ordered it. Thanks.

I would drive by one here like that also around 10 or so years ago. It was flat black or the paint was just faded. It had the fins but looked closer to 18 -20 feet from the road.  Not motor on the back and was rougher than most people would want to start with. Clean slate for some. LOL

A Google search of Glastron Seaflite boats turned up some interesting stuff.

Sorry, I'm on my phone at the moment, and don't have a link.

Google can find it, though.

I assume these two could be fifty-ized with a donor body.

That AMT Ski-Drag Boat is rare and expensive. I've built two and have another waiting to be built. I had bought it several years ago and it was pricey back then. I only see these kits on the average of every 8-10 years. Here's a pic of the one I had built back in the early 80's............................................

I have this kit. If I ever get around to building it, I'm going to move the engine to the stern. To me, the layout just doesn't make sense having the engine in the center.

To add to the OP...

Don Mills makes a cast metal 3kw portable gas generator.

Thanks.

They weren't all like that but it was a common design.

My best friends in-laws use to have a boat that looked a lot like that. It was not as fancy as the boat seen with the Suburban above, or in your links Snake. I believe it to be authentic too.

A lot of inboard boats before the 1960's had motors set in the middle of the boat like that. Especially the wood ones for some reason.
