gatorincebu Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 Moving right along and looking good in the process ! Be Well Gator
Mopar - D Posted July 7, 2020 Author Posted July 7, 2020 Thanks Gator Trial fit up of transporter #1& #3. Next will be to run all the hydraulic lines for both transporters. I’m going to make up the elevation difference between the two in the rigging supporting the vessel. Thanks for everyone’s comments.
gotnitro? Posted July 9, 2020 Posted July 9, 2020 Very well done ! See ya have a degree in plumbing and pneumatics lol
Mopar - D Posted July 9, 2020 Author Posted July 9, 2020 Thanks Jeff , Close but I had 20 years as a piping field engineer.
Force Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 (edited) The things you are plumbing now looks like air brake chambers to me, there is one for each wheel pair. The shock absorber looking thingy further inside the knee of the suspension arms is the hydraulic ram for hight adjustments and leveling. Here are a couple of pictures to show what I mean, first the hydraulic ram. And here you can see the air brake chambers between the wheels, there are no spring brakes on these, only a single air chamber Edited July 10, 2020 by Force
Mopar - D Posted July 10, 2020 Author Posted July 10, 2020 Thanks Havana for the reference pictures and correcting me on the air lines.
mustang1989 Posted July 10, 2020 Posted July 10, 2020 Man this thing is SICK!!!! Very good progress on this build Dan!! Looking forward to more. How in the world are you going to transport something like this to a show??
Mopar - D Posted July 10, 2020 Author Posted July 10, 2020 Thanks Joe, I think I’m going to have to make a special Custom box for it to be able to transport all of it to shows. That is when ever Model show’s are allowed again.
Mopar - D Posted July 12, 2020 Author Posted July 12, 2020 I’ve finished transporter #1 and getting close on transporter #3.
Mopar - D Posted July 14, 2020 Author Posted July 14, 2020 More work on transporter #3 with getting the air and hydraulic lines hooked up on the wheel assemblies. Still have more to install on the steering rods.
AmericanMuscleFan Posted July 14, 2020 Posted July 14, 2020 Beatiful and impressive work Dan! These transporter look sturdy and all the work on hydraulic lines is very convincing. Well done sir!!!
Mopar - D Posted July 16, 2020 Author Posted July 16, 2020 More progress on transporter #3 finished plumbing on the wheel assemblies still have to run the interconnection lines between the transporters. Installed lights and the hold down rings. Here’s my update pictures.
CRUSADER2 Posted July 16, 2020 Posted July 16, 2020 Excellent work and lovely detailing with the pipe work, its going to be some outfit! how are you off for shelf space?

Mopar - D Posted July 17, 2020 Author Posted July 17, 2020 I’ve been able to finish transporter #3 still have transporter #2 & #4 to start. Plus finish the vessel and the Mack. I have the transporters loaded up for shipment to the port where the vessel would arrive.
Mopar - D Posted July 22, 2020 Author Posted July 22, 2020 I’ve started on the tow truck that’s the Mack DM 800. Started with putting together the frame and test fixing the wheels from AITM. I’m now checking to see which transporter fits best with the heights of the Mack it looks like transporter #3 the taller one will connect the best. Here’s the mock up with the up graded wheels. Next I will have a mock-up of the goose neck and transporter attached to the Mack. I appreciate everyone’s comments.
Mopar - D Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 Thanks Vince. It needs to be a beast to be able to pull the +/- 400 ton Vessel.
HJK Posted July 23, 2020 Posted July 23, 2020 Wow Dan, This is certainly a great looking beast and the Mack DM 800 seems to be appropriate for such a load. I'm excited to see the whole thing finished. May I ask whether the blue tractor with the trailer loaded with two transporters is a Dodge Bighorn? Can you please tell me where did you get the hood adornment or did you do it yourself? Looking forward to your next update. Thanks, Juergen
Mopar - D Posted July 23, 2020 Author Posted July 23, 2020 Thanks Juergen, Yes it’s the Dodge short noise Big Horn that never made it to production only 2 were ever built. Frontier resin sells them and the hood adornment comes with it. I did a WIP when I built it about 5 years ago.
