Slotto Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 I picked this one up at Hobby Lobby on the cheap. My original plan was to build this with opening doors. I cut off the doors and it began to look really cool. Then the passenger side rocker broke then the passenger side a pillar broke. Then began issues with the paint. I had a 2 tone paint job. Tan on the top and this red on the bottom. Everything looked great until the red began to crack up over the passenger side rear quarter. Frustrated, I put it on the shelf...for 3 years. I then stripped the paint and ditched the 2 tone idea. I layed a decent base coat then came the clear. Along comes orange peel. UGH!!! I just wanted it done already. I struggled and did the best I could with the rest. Thanks for looking.
RDean58 Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Really good for a problem child! Great color and it turned out really well.
Rodent Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 I have had a Tamiya kit on the "Shelf of Doom" since 1985 because of recurring paint issues. I think I have the technology to finally finish it now, lol. Congratulations on getting this one to the finish line!
Perspect Scale Modelworks Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 I love these big boats. Glad you were able to finally tame the beast. The color, big wheels and stance look really good.
doorsovdoon Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Nice build, man. Really nice! It looks well worth the effort.
espo Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Great looking color combination. I like the low stance .
Geno Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Cool build Steve, my pops had a '65 Bonneville this color when I was around 10. Loved that big ol' boat.
hedotwo Posted July 30, 2020 Posted July 30, 2020 Generally not a fan of such big hoops, but these look nice ?! Great build!
Modelbuilder Mark Posted July 31, 2020 Posted July 31, 2020 Great cruiser, always liked the lines of that body.
Koellefornia Kid Posted August 2, 2020 Posted August 2, 2020 You did a great job rescuing this project! Stance, wheels, color.. everything looks just nice!
