AmericanMuscleFan Posted August 25, 2020 Posted August 25, 2020 Very good, impresive and inspiring work Roger! You put a lot of elbow grease into it and it pays off. This is my favorite pickup era and this little Ford will be amazing (it already is ...) when finished! Keep doing your great work, I love it!!!

Plowboy Posted August 29, 2020 Author Posted August 29, 2020 I now have a good pile of painted parts. We'll see if I can glue them together and make them look like something. The body has been cleared and sanded smooth ready to be polished. I'll start with the chassis and work my way up. I'm not going to glue the wheels on as I don't think they're going to make the cut. I'm ordering a set of Pegasus Shueys and a set of Hollis for it to see what they'll look like. I can't wait to start getting the engine pieces together to see what it's going to look like! It's all from the Lightning kit except for the headers that I nabbed from a Mach III Mustang. 1
dino246gt Posted August 29, 2020 Posted August 29, 2020 Awesome! Love all the parts prepped. It's going to be the coolest!!
falcon wagon Posted September 3, 2020 Posted September 3, 2020 I really like the looks of this truck with these wheels
ksnow Posted September 4, 2020 Posted September 4, 2020 That truck is looking really sweet. I love that grey green color.
Plowboy Posted September 4, 2020 Author Posted September 4, 2020 Thanx guys! I've made some decent progress. I have the chassis done. I'm debating on whether or not I want to add any details. The engine is pretty much done. I didn't add a lot of details. Just enough to make it a little more interesting. They'll be a few more added once the cab is mounted permanent. It looks pretty good resting in that sixty year old engine bay! 1
ksnow Posted September 5, 2020 Posted September 5, 2020 Looking very good. That grey exterior looks awesome.
Plowboy Posted September 8, 2020 Author Posted September 8, 2020 Thanx Kyle! I have the interior done and ready to install. I also got the Pegasus Shuey wheels and got them modified to fit. I may or may not shoot them with a dull cote. They totally change the look of it!
dragcarz Posted September 9, 2020 Posted September 9, 2020 So very cool, a lot of work here, and it shows! Very well done, no matter what wheels you choose!
OldNYJim Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Really like this! Nice job - super clean and well thought out!
ksnow Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Those wheels look good. Not too over the top modern looking.
speedy5963 Posted September 11, 2020 Posted September 11, 2020 Project is looking great, like the detail and all the work going into this!
goldfinger Posted September 13, 2020 Posted September 13, 2020 beautiful! My first truck was a'59 followed by a '60 panel . I love the improvements you've made.
Scott8950 Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Roger somehow i missed this... Amazing turn around for that old truck.. Very nice work! I knew you'd do something cool with it.
slusher Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 Great looking interior, Roger! Nice choice on the wheels...
mikemodeler Posted September 16, 2020 Posted September 16, 2020 That is looking fantastic, love that body style of the old Fords. Love how you married the modern drivetrain with the old body, definitely a great combo. As far as those Shuey's, search the internet for some examples of what others have done. I think a dull cote will make them fit into the look better. I personally would shoot the centers a darker gray to contrast with the body color.

Though, I do really like the dog dish look. ?

And that's why I'm not going to use them on this model. I keep comparing this model to the three other pickups I have: the old school '60, the phantom '48 and the '62. Sometimes, I think too much! So, I've decided to allow it to have it's own identity and stick with my original plan. From the beginning, I wanted this model to be a mesh of old and new. The steel wheels fit my idea best. So, that's what it's going to have.
dino246gt Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 As much as I love Halibrand style rims, I really like your steelies with dog dish caps for this cool truck!
my80malibu Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 The Shuey's would look better painted with grey centers, but the steelies knock it out of the park. Is there any tire Contact with the front fenderwells? Would using the revell fender wells would have been an option?

Is there any tire Contact with the front fenderwells? Would using the revell fender wells would have been an option? Yeah, they definitely look better painted. I tried on several different sets. I literally wore some of the paint off of the frame from handling it so much! But, none of them suited the look like the steel wheels. There's no tire contact front or rear. I shaved around an eighth inch from the sleeves so that I could get them tucked in nicely and have room. I had to do some shaving on the A frames for clearance also. I looked at the Lightning fenderwells. Way too much work. Too short. Shaped wrong for the body. I'm not saying it couldn't be done. But, the amount of work it would have taken wasn't worth the effort for me. I got a bit of shine on the body and did a final test fit with the interior and floorpan in place. I also did some mockups with alternate wheels. The Foose wheels. And I painted the Lightning wheels black. They give it a sinister look! But, the grille and bumpers would need to be black also to truly work. Another shot that shows the interior a little. I'm very happy with how it fits!
alan barton Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 I have to look in this section more often! I keep thinking Kenworths and Peterbilts rather than cool looking Effies! Your bodywork is laser sharp - I will continue to aspire to this level of perfection! Cheers Alan
AmericanMuscleFan Posted September 20, 2020 Posted September 20, 2020 Very nice job Roger! I really love the steel wheels with the dog dishes. The front grille needs to stay a light color IMHO to see all of the details you have done.
