Husky1943 Posted August 8, 2020 Posted August 8, 2020 I loved this kit! It really put itself together, and I would recommend it to anyone that just wants a fun, pretty build. It's rattle can paint that I sanded down with the Detail Master Polishing kit (which works great). All chrome is either out of the box or muffler tape (my version of BMF). I posted a buildup in the WIP section. Thanks for taking a look and any suggestions/criticisms are welcome.
Grumpa Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Nice looking '48 Rob. Was working with the muffler tape easy?
cobraman Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 I like it ! Is the chrome on the window sills correct ?

Yes, sir, the muffler tape is very easy and forgiving. I also think that it looks more realistic. I used to use it on aircraft panels, and I always thought that it looked real.

The center stripe down the hood isn't correct either. To be honest, I just liked it so I went with it. I could have done a better job of dovetailing the edges of the window chrome, but hey, lesson learned.
oldscool Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Nice work and the color is perfect for this car.
Modlbldr Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Great build! An understated beauty. Love the color and the extra chrome. Later-
doorsovdoon Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Looks good enough to eat, haha! The colour is perfect for this car, turned out really nice. Brown isn't such a bad colour when it shines.
Rakentaja Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Like the colour. But where are the parts #294 and #295, Lt. Vent Window and Rt. Vent Window? I don't see them. Also, why the part #6 Hood Emblem is upside down. Now the text Super Deluxe and 8 in it is also upside down.
Husky1943 Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Wow! Thanks everyone! Yeah, the color really has been the "hook" on this particular model. I think it was Gareth who has been fixated on taking a bite out of this car. It does look like a shiny block of chocolate. Jouko, the side vent windows don't appear on the box examples, and I actually installed them at first, but then removed them. I just liked the more open windows. Now, I just messed up getting the emblem upside down. I didn't even know there was anything on it. In fact, I blew up the photo of the emblem as big as possible, and STILL can't see it! (Old eyes). But, you are right, I sure enough got them wrong.

In the assembly instructions it is drawed wrong. The text in original car is in blue, so I painted it blue. I'm making the same car so I know.
Husky1943 Posted August 10, 2020 Author Posted August 10, 2020 Jouko, thanks for the LARGE photos. I swear that I could not make out the emblem and had no idea it was upside down. However, you taught me something that I thought I learned in the Navy....attention to detail. Thanks again for the assist.

Husky1943 Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 Gareth, are "Maltesers" like Malt Balls? I admit I am ignorant of that particular sweet.

I had to look up Malt Bars and they look like cakes, nothing like Maltesers. They're spherical chocolate balls with a malted milk centre. Lol, we're getting off topic, 'Topic' also the name of a popular chocolate bar here.. ok, ok, no more talk of chocolate, xD
Husky1943 Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 Hey Gareth! These are what I was talking about. But you got me curious and I looked them up. They are the exact same thing (I think). Yum! Besides, food is always a good topic (if not "off" like you said)!
doorsovdoon Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 Yep, that's them, though they look to be skimping a bit on the malted centre there!
