Gramps46 Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 Another look back in time. This is a Revell 1/24 USRRC Shelby Cobra body. USRRC because there are no FIA luggage bumps on the trunk lid. This body became the basis for many resin cast copies. Since Revell was within walking distance of Shelby American finding a reference should not have been a problem and IMHO they nailed the body. You can tell it is a Revell by the windshield which was molded in one clear piece with the frame. An AMT chassis and interior were added. The chassis was lengthened from 1/25 to 1/24 dimension. IIRC the decals were by Fred Cady.
afx Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 (edited) Very nice Gary. A USRRC Roadster (in 1:25 scale - sigh) is on the must build list for my Cobra collection. Edited August 12, 2020 by afx
Rich Chernosky Posted August 12, 2020 Posted August 12, 2020 A classic Gary...and thanks for all the background information.

vamach1 Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 Very nice indeed back in the day before we had a few more options in resin bodies and parts but a nice resin or plastic USRRC body along with of course a 427 body and chassis in 1/25 scale.
Dave B Posted August 15, 2020 Posted August 15, 2020 A nice looking build Gary. Pity that mould wasn't available for a re-release, the body only would be handy for projects. Dave B
vamach1 Posted August 27, 2020 Posted August 27, 2020 More pictures to follow as the car needs some work. It is NOT mine but it is also not very far from Gary (maybe 40 miles) so hopefully I can get together with them and see the progress on this ex street 289 Cobra that has had quite a few modifications for vintage racing.
Gramps46 Posted August 28, 2020 Author Posted August 28, 2020 Thank you Rex for posting the pictures.
