To each their own. I would be embarrassed to be seen even close to it, but that's just me. Others may look upon it and get excited, although I don't know why.

I sure would like to see the triple-Weber-twin-turbo-fuel-injection setup.

Must be a real triumph of engineering.

EDIT: Just for the record, "ricer" isn't necessarily a derogatory term applied to poseur idiot rides. There's a 240Z around here running 700RWHP from a turbocharged and intercooled 2JZ Yota motor.

The owner/builder of the car is Asian, and his tag reads RICER.

If anyone is wondering, the rear bumper sticker seems to be celebrating the retirement of 73 year old Johor Bahru from the municipal council.

Well that's nice.

:)

To- Yota You’ve NEVER heard that?? Wow

2JZ. 1000hp motors not uncommon

I would not call a JDM fan (Japanese Domestic Market ?) a Ricer. Their tag ok. But not respectful at best. Get you broken nose even. Not that some don’t need noses broken over slurs. Lol

Last part was not about you Bill, or anyone else in particular. Just trying to get people to get along.

Heres a Volvo 245 wagon WITH a 2JZ Yota in it. http://www.speedhunters.com/2014/01/want-good-sleeper-try-brick-shaped-supra/

Yeah, I know. But back in the '70s we called the Kaw H1 and H2 "rice rockets" with no "slur" intended. We all looked at the performance of those things with awe, they were Asian in origin, and that's it.

Of course that was long before it became fashionable to have perpetually wadded panties and every word uttered potentially "offensive" to somebody.

Stone-Woods-Cook, one of the winning-est drag teams in the history of the sport...and among my heroes at the time...was just about as "diverse" as you can get, and nobody in the sport really even noticed. All I saw was three guys who knew their stuff and made their cars work consistently.

Sure would be nice if we could get the rest of the way to only judging people for what's in their character and their accomplishments, and get beyond childish hypersensitivity.

I agree. Completely.
Didn’t think youd care, and I still call them rice rockets. :)
I added that since I posted right after Dan, a mod. What has been shown here at times isn’t sensitivity, but stunning bigotry. A few threads have ghosted because of it, my ignore list has grown. A child abuser attempted to argue their case about race via pm. That is not ok for us I’d expect.
Sorry but needed context between sensitivity and bigotry. Why is THAT a thing?

Back to serious sleepers.

Not sure what my post or presence has to do with anything.  ?

If I had any issues at all or saw any issues with the term "ricer" or "rice rocket" then I would have sent this into oblivion long ago.

Carry on...

Here here. The SWC team was a force to deal with in Drag Racing and if you blinked they would put you on the trailer as quick as anybody.

Id never seen SWC pic with faces until lately here on board. Thought the diversity was cool, always icons of mine. First class racers and cars

Dan it wasnt about you either. Just trying to prevent a Bubba thread this time directed at Asians or Swedes. Bill and i don't offend easily, neither do we put up with bs. Didnt want fight with someone other than Bill. Va Bene? ?

Not you either. Ive actually spent more time clarifying tha posting the good riced Volvo. I need aquavit and another cigar.

The new trend in food is for riced-cauliflower, but I suspect that is not the same as what is discussed here.  And I sincerely hope that the  cauliflower is not offended. :D

While somewhat off the subject but still about Volvos. Should someone want to see just how sturdy these vehicles are just look up some of the Swedish Rally film clips on YouTube.

Sorry.... I don't drift... ? Contrary to popular belief, but driftin' ain't racin'.... ?

It's just a waste of fried rubber..

Agree. Tire needs to be stuck mostly. Both those pics predate drifting, back when a drift happened when grip went away or braking slowed exit speed. If you got a wheel in the air and still going fast, drive it or pee.  ??

Agree. Ive never had one but looked at 850T5 wagon hard back when new. Triple rollover? No problem.
This is a curb induced drift I like. Im one of these kinda guys. Fastest way thru corners, don’t care how many tires down.

They have done very well in this form of racing as well. The World Rally Cup racing is what I find so amazing. I have seen these things fly, literally, off the gravel road thru ditches over tree stumps back on the road and bounce of a boulder or two and just keep going. Their gas pedal seems to be an On/Off switch.

What he said. ☝️

The multiple exhaust tips is a clue?  I find it amusing how many American cars come from the factory, with extra fake tips.

Volvos kick butt at rallies, watched a few at the ones I worked on.
