If one or the other or both provide good content, then great. If both fail, I will still build models and visit this site. Exactly.

Consider that the end of Scale Auto was a surprise to the FSM staff as well. It may take a few issues for FSM to include what, in some folks' opinion, is "enough" model car content. iBorg Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 Quote Consider that the end of Scale Auto was a surprise to the FSM staff as well. It may take a few issues for FSM to include what, in some folks' opinion, is "enough" model car content. That may be the fairest thing said about FSM. While they have lead time to incorporate some elements of SA in the December issue, it will take three or so issues to work it in. A big factor of how much automotive that will be included will be the advertisers that migrate to FSM. If the ad rates or significantly more, many of the cottage industries won't make the move. Remember page count as well as article content will be a reflection of advertisers. Back to Topic In sorting through my magazines I found several MCMs that I didn't remember reading. Going back five or so years and this magazine was absolutely outstanding! Here's to the relaunch being as successful.
Bugatti Fan Posted September 28, 2020 Posted September 28, 2020 MCM was great with the late Harry P's graphic and layout skills prevalent, and it was not just a job to him being an excellent auto modeller as well. If the revived MCM has another guy like Harry to plan the layouts, it should resemble the MCM we used to know.
PatW Posted October 1, 2020 Posted October 1, 2020 I would enjoy to see a magazine by MCM, but understand that they may not be available in the UK. As far as Scale Auto is concerned, my log on to anything Kalmbach is rejected, them saying that I need a new browser! I received the last SA magazine and on the fly sheet inside the plastic pack with the magazine, it stated the correct date of December 2021. When I get my first Finescale Magazine the fly sheet says my subscription runs out in May 2021! I've attempted to contact them using various email addresses ( Scale Auto Customer Services and the same addressed as in the FSM mag) and all have been bounced back! I'm not at all interested in magazines where articles are all on what I see as 'Killing Machines', and SA said that FSM would have auto/car related articles, none of which are in this issue! I can't possibly phone them from the UK due to the high cost, but certainly don't want my outstanding subscription wasted on something I don't want! Sorry for the rant.

FSM is published 10 months a year, rather than the 6 of SA, so your subscription would run out quicker. Also the last issue of SA was just delivered, so no FSM wouldn't be carrying automotive stuff immediately in their October issue.

I've asked two or three times now today (now that I've found other email addresses) so hopefully they will refund my money. Then I can delete both Scale Auto and FSM from my favourites list.
mikemodeler Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 Just a couple of random observations... 1. Last year Gregg said he had several issues "ready to go" and he got one printed, any idea of when the others might be out? 2. Larry announced 6 weeks ago the "relaunch" and work that was going on, but haven't heard anything since. Any thing new to share Larry? 3. Given the demise of SA, any hints of what he "new" MCM will be like?
