cobraman Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 I kind of lost interest in this kit shortly after I started it so I decided to modify it . Not sure if I made it better or worse . Hood is glued shut . I cut a hole in it and mounted a partial engine from underside . I enlarged the wheel wells and used parts box wheels and tires . Made a bed cover . No underside detail so it is a slammer . Painted with Tamiya light blue . Side pipes from parts box .
Classicgas Posted December 13, 2020 Posted December 13, 2020 Very nice. I gotta get one. Didn't round2 just reissue this?
VanSpence Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 The bigger wheels look really good on there. I like what you have done with this.
Plowboy Posted December 14, 2020 Posted December 14, 2020 That's a cool looking little Subaru Ray! Very believable. Like something someone would do in their backyard or garage. Does this kit have an engine? I've never had one.
cobraman Posted December 14, 2020 Author Posted December 14, 2020 The kit does come with the stock engine but I just glued the hood shut.
slusher Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Very nice Subaru Ray, I like the white steel wheels whit your body color..
Goose1957 Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 With those air cleaners poking outta the hood, you know something wicked is under there. Bet its a 289, lol. Cool Brat. Jeff
cobraman Posted December 17, 2020 Author Posted December 17, 2020 Thanks Jeff. 289 sounds good to me. ?
Chuck Most Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 Some time ago I saw a Forester treated to a 5.0 swap, so it's totally possible.
Misha Posted December 21, 2020 Posted December 21, 2020 I really like your concept Ray, of turning it into a curbside/slammer with a kit that was so-so; I have a few of them. By providing a partial engine underneath a shut hood revitalizes many of the odd ball curbsides I have. Great looking build. Cheers Misha
BeakDoc Posted January 5, 2021 Posted January 5, 2021 Doesn’t matter whether you made it better or worse as long as you had fun doing it. FWIW, my vote is for “better.” I like it! Now I need to pick up one of those Brat kits because you’ve just inspired a build idea.... a Brat BRZ drifter.... hmmmm.
