bill-e-boy Posted September 25 Posted September 25 Wow Kit - another way to chop a 32-34 5W coupe. I am liking it a lot. The last time I chopped a 5W I cut and stretched the turret between the A&B and the B&C pillars - a lot of cleanup work with this method. I like the step at the B pillar as this will make alignment when gluing back together a lot less stressful. The treatment at the C pillar is awesome. I am liking all the other stuff happening with this build I will be watching 1

Ace-Garageguy Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I've chopped a lot of '32s and '34s, both lengthening the turret and not. IMHO, the "not" version accomplished here (and a couple of other ways that work on a model but not in full-scale steel or fiberglass) makes the more attractively proportioned car in the end. 1
Spex84 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 (edited) Ditto Bill...I've always found the lengthened-turret chops look a bit foreheady, ya know? My only attempt at chopping a '34 with leaned pillars was significantly more butchered than this, so it's nice to see how I should have done it, and save the photos for next time...thanks for the process photos KK! Kit Karson Posted 10 hours ago Author Posted 10 hours ago (edited) K&R Kustoms+Rods '34 5ive Window Chopped Coupe Chassis modifications to accommodate the use of the AMT 1932 Ford Dropped Front Axle requires the grafting of the Deuce front rails, frame horns & front axle crossmember: Magnets have already been attached to the king pins... Center front spring mounting tab had to be trimmed down... The Deuce radiator slots have been filled in... Tracing the position of the location of the Deuce rails & crossmember relative to the Willys forward frame marking the material to be removed from the Deuce front clip... Here the side view denotes the outline of the material to be removed from the Deuce rails... 1st mockup after the Deuce rails have been trimmed... Clamp the parts together prior to cementing the pieces together... There! Things ought to stay in place while the bond cures... This is how it appeared before final fit... With the smallest set of front tires gives a view of about how low the frontend will ride. -KK Edited 10 hours ago by Kit Karson Correct text
