JollySipper Posted February 14 Posted February 14 How about I show you guys what my dog DID today...... I had to leave him at home alone for just a couple hours. I didn't want him to be in his crate the whole time, so I closed him up in my bedroom instead. Guess I'm gonna have to buy a door now! What can you do, though? Funny thing is, I've been either crating or putting him in the room so he doesn't chew any like, wires and such. He didn't bother Anything else! Just destroyed the door to get out and nothing else.............. 1 3

JollySipper Posted February 14 Posted February 14 Yea, he kinda knows that he screwed up........ You can't really punish them after the fact, though. They more less need to be caught in the act. You can see he's a little ashamed in the pic! 2

They're all goofs, after all. 2
TonyK Posted February 14 Posted February 14 15 hours ago, Nazz said: Hi Toni, we have a dog with similar issues. Whiskey is afraid of a lot of things also , we have tried the calming spray and it does help him some, we spray it on his collar. Our guy seems to go though phases , for instance, we practice in a barn for agility and just after Christmas he noticed the overhead fand and lights and shut down. He would only do one jump at a time. Since then he has gotten better and it doing his usual following the coarse we ask him to do . Whiskey is also a compulsive licker as you describe. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, I should have asked if your dog has fear issues? My dog "Buddy" doesn't appear to have fear issues except on a walk if he sees another dog he comes unhinged. Haven't understood that but the vet says some dogs are like that. It seems he has too much energy and needs to keep busy. That's my unprofessional opinion. Always try to keep him busy but it's the down time when he licks. When he's relaxed. Doesn't make sense. Still waiting for the special collar and hope that does some good. 1

Just destroyed the door to get out and nothing else.............. Years ago, we had gotten a female yellow lab pup that didn't like to be left alone while we were at work. She had gotten to the point where we could leave her in a part of the lower level of the home. Somehow, she got into the bathroom down there and tore up the linoleum flooring in about 75% of the bathroom. Dogs can get bored and chewing seems to be their release. 1
Nazz Posted February 23 Author Posted February 23 Hi Guys, here are some recent pics of our guys. The first is a pic of the 3 boys. The second is a pic of Diesel and his advanced agility title, and the third is Bandit's puppy agility certificate. He loves the classes so much he doesn't want to leave when it's time to go home! JollySipper Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Emmett has some kinda kooky behaviors that I find kind of endearing....... My apartment has a straight length of area that we play fetch in. His food dishes are in that walkway. He'll run after the ball, but when he gets to his dishes, he slows down and walks carefully by them..... Then there's this thing about 'Go to the door'. He won't lead to the door to go out! He wants me to go to the door first...... Sometimes he treats the furniture like the floor is lava............
Belugawrx Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Ziggy turned 4 January 19th...she is a doll...found her running wild downtown at 5 months old...leashed her up and brought her home. There is protocol for found dogs, call all humane societies (SPCA) within 50 miles, call all pet shops in the same vicinity... and wait 3 months...no one was looking for her so she became mine. The first time I left her to go to work, she ate part of my indoor fig tree..now she gets to hang out only in the kitchen with her kennel blocking the entrance to the other rooms. Love seeing all the dog owners here...how do you keep the dog hairs from floating into your wet paint...?? 3

Always sounded like he was dreaming of running and barking at something and having a generally good time doing it. Not unlike when we dream sometimes.

They say that a dog is 'at home' when they can sleep on their backs...... Something about them feeling safe enough to. 4
stavanzer Posted March 6 Posted March 6 No, pics, but my 2 year old Rottweiler is convinced she is a Hat. If I'm on the couch, she tries to crawl on top of my head. At 110 lbs, this is not pleasant. It always devolves into a struggle to get her back on the Floor. 3

The shelters around here are a three day hold period and then they are available for adoption. My parents caught a BIchon running loose and called the shelter. They said if he isn't redeemed they wanted to adopt. No one showed up and they adopted him. 1

She is a springer spaniel my favorite dog, I might be a little bias because that's the only breed I've had. She's pretty good at giving the side eye when she's tired.? Here's a pretty rare occasion. Shes not attacking the cat.? Beautiful baby, I rescued a Springer from a bad life, & he lived out his life with me til lymphoma got him in 98, Stormy was my bro... 1 2
