I bought a couple of these back when they came out in purple with green preprinted graphics and liked it other than the preprinted graphics and stupid looking tuner wing. Saw it and one of the Fury kits at a LHS when I stopped to get some more stuff for me Axial SCX24 Deadbolt and decided to grab both, starting with the Concord since it needs less work due to the lack of a “hole” to fill in the hood and build it along the lines of a V.I.P. Style build.

I put it together to get an idea and glued the wing  in place to act as a filler for the holes in the deck lid to mount it then red red the axle holes since it was still at what looked like the stock ride height.

Removed the wing and cleaned up the flash tonight.

That said, the drop, wing removal, and low camera angle really make this car look right.

Been a while since I had a chance to do much with this kit, put it in primer today to see what I need to do to fix the sanding scratches I made and to help find areas that may need a little filler work too.

Here it is in primer with the wheels From the Street Fury kit for now, debating about looking at Aoshima’s VIP wheels instead though, it needs more meat in those openings, even if they’re smaller diameter than box stock, IMHO.

Quick update on the Concord, wet sanded the primer last night, found I need a little filler on the left side of the deck lid where the wing went in and behind the right front headlight due to a sink mark for the body mounting post on that side.

weather isn’t going to be cooperative next couple days so I’ll need to do that to the Fury and have a couple other cars I’m prepping for primer as well.

The green Bronco/Scout looking rig next to it will be going brushless, hopefully by Memorial Day, since we’re waiting on parts at this time for it?

Did a little putty and sanding work on the Concord tonight, unfortunately, my work schedule (got the “late” hours, so there’s a lack of daylight afterwards) and the weather this week will affect the primer and then paint work from being finished sooner rather than later.

Well, on to the pics.......

Still thinking about ditching the Street Fury 3 spoke wheels for a set of Aoshima’s VIP wheels though.

Looks good! Yeah, ditch the Fury wheels. Too small.

Hit the body work on the Concorde done and it’s in just Duplicolor sandable primer.

still needs a color then clear coats, custom exhaust tips, and better wheels, though.

Well, this is irritating………

Went to lay down the color coat onto this Concord today and all 4 sides of the body shell and the front bumper are all COVERED in bubbles:angry:

Any thoughts out there on if it’ll wet sand out or do I just need to pick up some Purple Power and a tub to dip it in?!

Interesting. I always thought the Concorde was a remarkable piece of styling.

If it hadn't been mass-produced, and if some design details were cleaned up, it could have been a big 4-door exotic...Ferrari maybe.

Good luck with that paint. You'll get it.  :D

I have had that same paint problem. I found it was because I was spraying too much too close. Not saying that is what you did just saying that's what I did that caused that problem.  Good luck with a fix or repaint.

That could be it, plus it was getting humid leading up to today's rain as well, which may not have helped, though I had other stuff I painted that didn't have that issue.

I seem to remember that this platform was designed by Renault and could have been FWD, RWD, or AWD without major redesigns and was how the Charger concept car from the late 90's was based on this platform as a starting point.  I have another one of these I want to build as a 2dr custom, but may need to go and dig for one of the many AMT/Ertl Prowler kits I bought in the 90's to see how hard it would be to adapt this kit and that drivetrain together.........

No updates, but I showed the body to my friend that sells automotive paint and body supplies today, he’s also thinking that stripping and reshooting is my best option on this one.

Guess it’s been a while since I last posted here about this model. Got the paint off the outside and pretty well cleaned up, but need to lay at least some primer on it to try again.71FFE556-B60A-4D47-9E85-91AFBD509C3D.thumb.jpeg.f5ede939b83a6bcb9222a14773a663c6.jpegThis is wheels I’ve bought to try on this car today.21DFE449-EB68-4ABA-9D86-E21D9DB082C9.thumb.jpeg.8b16dcd1187fefc108ff68a79259a34c.jpeg
So I tried them out tonight, I’m leaning towards the Phat Daddies on this one, and since I do have some of their disk brake sets, so I plan to put a set behind these too.5AA4D73A-5FBA-4DEC-91CE-32CD4214ACB3.thumb.jpeg.0b920b598eac6fee1574a70f71b8cc7c.jpegThen put the Hollie’s for a 2dr that I want to eventually build from a second kit.

I bought new a 1999 candy apple red Concorde. It was the most comfortable highway car I ever owned. Bad thing and why they are not seen much is they had a internal oiling issue and all of them failed even with by the book service.  I built a model of it removing the areo stuff etc

Yep.....there was a internal oil line with a 90 degree bend.....no matter what you did the engine starved for oil after 100K......

I wonder how much was changed by the time that and all the other V6’s were dropped in favor of the 3.6l,  a friend had an ‘08 Sebring sedan with the 2.7l and was the 3rd owner of it. His Dad was the 4th owner that I swear was also actively trying to kill the ran it well into the 200k range and it took him crossing into the wrong lane and hitting a F450 with a flat bed, which only totaled the car due to the crash damages.
