Been enjoying watching all of the body mods you have done. I have wanted to do some flairs only on a smaller scale than what you're doing here, but getting a lot of great ideas from you.

Thanks, David. When I finish the model I will explain why the real car had such massive flairs for the rear tires.

.... I'm really looking forward to the paint process for this body. Hope it works out okay.

Hey Mark! If I remember correctly, you said you were going to start using only water based paints and trying out a brush on method you learned about.... And I’m assuming this will be the first car for it?  One thing I know is if you use the Createx 5620 Clear Coat, it has very good results with wet sanding and polishing, so if you wind up with some subtle visibility of brush strokes it would be interesting to find out if such a process would make them nonexistent. ...I’m wishing you the best on this one?

Thanks, Josh. I have a Createx clear. I dont know what number it is . but I did want to clear it when all the painting and polishing is done and then polish the clear, and  finally hit it with Future, errrr, Pledge floor care. I really wish they had not changed the name from Future. If I do all that, I'm hoping to have a pretty good brush painted model. we shall see. Its just so hard to air brush or rattle can spray down here in this humidity.

I have become a Createx exclusive user except for Stynylrez primer but have not used the clear.  Do you like the results??

I like the results in the sense of it being very durable, sandable and polishable, but as far as spraying it has continued to be challenging for me. I have yet to be able to attain a nice uniform top layer of glossiness and some of the time it’ll turn out very dull and ugly until after I wet sand and polish. This is probably due to the fact that my air compressor is not adjustable for air pressure, so I’m pretty sure my pressure is too low for properly spraying ANY clear coat.... But the fact that it is extremely low toxicity makes it worth it to me even if it is a lot more work.

The rear flairs seem enormous but believe me, I checked the dimensions on the 1/25 scale picture of the real car and they are the same. I think when the model is one color, and the tires are installed, it wont look as ridiculous. And there is a reason for the rear flairs to be so wide, which will be revealed when the model is finished.

Those flairs are huge, looking forward to seeing how you fill them up !

Ray, look for the big tires earlier in the wip.

Got the pattern for the front flairs scribed out. Just need to connect them to some saw cuts so I can remove the material below the scribe cut. Then I can add the flairs.

The fender extensions are finished. I just need to remove the front inner fenders and I can start priming and painting the body.

You made quick work of that! Can’t wait until primer!

Thanks, Anton. You and me both on the primer. Looking forward to getting it one color.  Even if its gray.

Really enjoy watching you scratch build on your Camaro. Is she getting ready for som color

Thanks Carl. I had to remove the front inner fenders but I had to be careful to leave the very front edge of them to have an attaching place for the body to the frame. I also forgot that I needed to scratch build a rear close out panel for under the rear bumper. So my priming has been held up a bit.

It's coming along great, Mark. The flairs are very nice.

Thanks, Trevor. I think they will look a lot better after the car is painted.
