I saw Hobby Lobby had 40% off and free shipping for orders over $50, so I figured good deal. So I went on the site and my first few choices were out of stock, so I hit on a AMT DM800 Mack an R series Mack and the 67 Chevy 4 door "Supernatural" . My order came in today and when I opened the box.....not one kit was right. I got the AMT 007 Ford, AMT Autocar and Tyrone Malones drag truck. The pick order was in the box with my original kit choices and a card that said "Picked and Packed with pride by Huong". At least it was 2 trucks and 1 four door.?. Still was worth the price.

That's completely unacceptable, and not the first time I've heard of this from HL. I'd complain to them and demand they take the un-ordered items back on their dime, and either send the right stuff or give me my money back. Accept no substitutes!

If the three you got are OK with you, cool. Of what they sent only the Autocar may have been close enough for me.

Perhaps someone else got your order. Unlikely but possible. I've worked in warehouses similar to there. Mistakes do happen. You'd think that they would have some kind of reference chart nearby. One with the SKU and a picture would be the best route.

You may want to contact them and explain the situation just to see what they say.

That’s why you don’t do mail order with Hobby Lobby!

Out of stock? They substitute another similar kit.. no understanding of our market. Ordered puzzles, they sent you puzzles!

Unfortunately, Hobby Lobby is a little sneaky when it comes to ordering kits online. The Supernatural kit is listed as "Pop Culture Model Car Kit" and that you may not receive the kit that is pictured.

They changed the wording on some of the model listings.  It used to say:

Due to the nature of this item, the style you receive will vary. If you would like to specify a style, please contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-888-0321, and press 1 to place your order with a representative.

But they changed it to:

NOTE: This item comes in assorted styles. While we make every effort to ensure items in stock are represented accurately online, at this time, we are unable to ensure that you will receive this item in the style you see pictured.

never mind, I responded before I saw someone else showed the deceptive practice.

I won’t order kits on line from HL unless it doesn’t have the multiple choice in there. I ordered one from them a while back and luckily got another kit I wanted thankfully……

That's the whole thing. When you click on a kit you want that's why you clicked on it, you want IT, NOT A RANDOM KIT THEY CHOOSE. That policy is b.s.

First off I wouldn't call what they are doing as deceptive hecuase they clearly state the practice.  Not a way to treat customers and I'm sure the practice hurting them.

Its pretty obviuos that they have a problem with inventory control that they have no desire to fix. Makes one wonder if you order paint will they decide to sent you a different color if your choice s ut of stock.
