I know this is a weird subject for a modeling website, but I am really happy about this.  I use a lot of paper towels with cleaning up airbrushes, paint brushes and a lot of other things at the modeling workbench.  I was going through a lot of paper towels.  Most of my trash in the shop was paper towels.  I was very happy when bounty came out with select-a-size.  I reduced my waste by at least 1/3 but I was still using a lot of towels.  Then Brawny comes out with tear-a-square.  These are just the right size for little jobs like cleaning my airbrush, cleaning up the tops of paint bottles and just about every other job I was using paper towels for at my modeling bench.  I have cut my waste in half at least.  Maybe more.  This is a great addition to my bench!

Not a weird subject at all. I too use lots of paper towels... airbrush cleanup and everything else imaginable.

Brawny used to be my go-to brand until Walmart stopped stocking them and now almost every paper towel is their house brand (Great Value). At first I was torqued about this, but I started buying the GV Heavy Duty Split Sheet roles and now will never buy Brawny’s again if I have a choice, since the GV’s are way cheaper and seem to be the exact same durability/absorbency. Since they are just the half sheets instead of pick-a-square, I just pull off about 10 half sheets into a stack and then rip that stack in half.

I had thought about doing this, but the last one always seems to the the one I just used and not the one I need?  This way a small sheet is just a pull  away. ?

I have a different system. I use Kleenex for a lot of things and have a roll of the blue paper shop towels handy. I'm not shy about tearing them down the middle for a smaller sheet. Between these two, I usually get what I need. If neither of those are good enough, out come the actual shop towels (with their attendant semi-annual washing and post clothes washer cleaning ritual).

I used to use Kleenex (well, generic tissues) that I used to fold and cut into 8 small squares. About 1.5" square.  I still occasionally use those, but for several years I have been taking Bounty select-a-size sheets and cutting each into 8 pieces.

I used to tear them, but the ragged edges have fuzz (especially tissues).  I now cut them using sharp scissors. I stack 3 to 4 sheets, then cut them at once. I end up with 24 or 32 pieces and it takes me probably about a minute or two to do that.  Those batches of little towels last me quite some time.  I curve the sheets and stuff them into a a liquid laundry detergent measuring cup. It makes a nifty dispenser.
