Funny you should mention that, 1959-2000 would cover the Mini Cooper. The VW Beetle Bug was technically used until 2003 in basically it's unchanged format and from 1967 until 2003 it was made in Mexico. I had read the article years ago that Mexico made a deal with some other company in Argentina to continue to produce the Classic VW Beetle... so it was discontinued but only temporarily? I've forgotten the whole story but atleast til 2003 you could build a VW Bug... So, pretty much anyone who wants to build for the 2022 CBR should have that option lol

And don’t forget the VW Bus T2 continued until 2013 in Brazil. 68-2013. The T1 from 50 something to 67.
with the right engine swap, a VW bus could make a great CB racer.

Wow, a year sure does pass by quickly the older one gets. Unfortunately I’ve bowed out of the last two CBR, the current Stealth run is still on the workbench in need of more time than the week or so left. I am hoping for a better year with health and for an ole fart the Birthdate Run is intriguing, so had a quick look at possibilities for 1953…

I was pleasantly surprised by the choices available. With more up to date drivelines any of the above would make for an interesting entry. Which one to choose?

Cheers MISHA

the winner of the Cannonball 2022 theme is
Year Of Birth.

You're in Luck, 1968 is a good year!

If we do birthday year, I guess I'm pretty lucky - 1968.

Awesome! That could be a dilemma, having so many options... although it seems like you won't have that problem, the Chevelle is an excellent choice.

1973 has a decent amount of kit choices for me. I haven't fully committed to my decision just yet. It's kinda been fun just researching what to build so I gotta shout out to Fat Brian for the suggestion... it's gonna be cool to see what shows up!

Woo Hoo 1970’s club! Best year to be born, product’s of the 80’s.

After looking at the available to me selections at my local hobby shops, I may have to outsource to the internet to find a suitable subject to build. ☹️

Found my 68 Chevelle kit (already opened, a bit started?). I will admit main part of chassis looks like it was sprayed flat black at one time; however I'm also missing numerous pieces (inc. all engine parts) so hopefully you folks will be kind enough to let me use it? or is it considered already started?

Can be up to 25% started per the original rules in the CBR so that does qualify! Looks like a great project, if you need any of those missing parts let me know, I have a bunch of slot car leftovers from that kit!

You're good...

1.       The build can be either a new or started kit up to 25% complete. A re-builder or parts box special is okay too. 1/24 or 1/25. If you absolutely must do a 1/20 model we’ll likely bend the rules as we have before, but that’s the limit.

Sweet. Thinking of going with a 5.5 out a Corvette C7.R kit to do something a bit different.

Well, I'm locked in.

My kit arrived safe and sound from the EU yesterday.

Now to decided, do I keep the 440 six pack or update it to a Hellcat?

Good thing about this land yacht is there is a TON of room to add in extras.

See you guys in the New Year. 39269_rd.jpg.a90cb921d6ddd72ae41202576dbc6f64.jpg

Thanks… no lol. I guess that’s the crapshoot of community builds.  I think I have an unconventional idea, have to see if I can find one.

I was starting to wish I was born in 70.  Probably more options for that year than any? I hope you find something to inspire ya... I still haven't exactly found my build...

Well I was trying to keep in mind of a vehicle that will be crossing  the country at a high rate of illegal speeds, and also something that would accept some modern accoutrements.
So my choices are:

No interest in any of these '70's?  Most are still reasonably affordable and the BRE 240Z Datsun, if I'm not mistaken, was used '70 to '72 and the '71 Thunderbird was little changed, if at all from '70.

@Lunajammer I’m trying to Stick to

1:25 scale, so some of the monogram ones are out of contention. The 71 tbird or Torino could definitely fit the bill, I’ll do some local searching and see what I can come up with.

I can’t believe out of all the kits that can pass for a 1970 that there is nothing that appeals to you.
Nearly every car car, and truck from 70 has been kitted. I am also 1970 and feel like I have too many options.

I guess I should quantify my statement, it’s not just what I like it’s also what’s available locally.

If the '55 Chevy--which actually appeared in late 1954--qualifies for my 1954 year of birth, I'm in. Otherwise, I'll be out.

I guess we will need some “grey” areas in the rules. Like I’m a November kid, I’m sure some 71 models dropped in late 70…
