69NovaYenko Posted October 10, 2021 Posted October 10, 2021 (edited) The spure cutters I have have been with me since 2002. Recently, I noticed they squish the spure into..they don't cut crisply and cleanly as they used to. Can they be sharpened or should I purchase a new pair. Edited October 11, 2021 by 69NovaYenko
Snake45 Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Time for a new pair. Before paying "hobby prices," see what's available in the nail care sections of your local Walmart, drugstores, even Dollar Generals. You might be surprised. 1
Plowboy Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 You can sharpen them. I use a file to sharpen mine. I've had the same pair since '00. 1
peteski Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 (edited) Good quality cuticle trimmers available from beauty supply store. They cut flush. Edited October 11, 2021 by peteski

You could try, but like Snake said, they can be found pretty cheap in places. I got this pair at Princess Auto for under 10 bucks. They are sharp and will even clip masking tape cleanly. 1930fordpickup Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Greg if you have ever sharpened a knife you can sharpen these. Now if you have nick's in the edge, it will still work but you might as well just buy a new pair.
espo Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 I'd hang onto the old nicked ones for when you're cutting something like metal pins or what ever else you did to nick them in the first place.
69NovaYenko Posted October 12, 2021 Author Posted October 12, 2021 Many thanks to all the reply's and Ideas. I1ll sharpen these but I will also check into the local beauty supply houses offerings.
