Finally started work on a project that's quite special to me. I'm using the C1 Models transkit to convert Aoshima's 1/24th scale MGB roadster kit into an MGB GT, which was my very first car in high school. So far I've done the surgery to adapt the GT interior to the Aoshima chassis. I can't say enough good things about my Border saw set!

Looking forward to see your progress Justin with the transkit. I’ve been eyeing this conversion as MGs have been on my brain ever since sitting in one in the dealer showroom back in the mid sixties. Did end up with a used TR-3 though, close but no cigar.

Cheers Misha

Very cool conversion,  I too love the MGB. I had a 1967 and loved it, but they are not for bigger people. At 6ft and 225lbs, a little MG feels like I am wearing it, not driving it.

Making some strong progress on my Aoshima/C1 Models 1/24th scale MGB GT build. I have nothing but excellent things to say about the quality of the C1 transkit. It has excellent detail, fits together nicely, and there were only a few pinholes that needed a dab of Mr Hobby Dissolved Putty. So far the interior is coming together nicely. I used Ken's Fuzzy Fur to flock the carpet and the paint is AK Real Color #026 Blue Black which I feel gives a better contrast without washing out detail than if I just used flat black.

Got the first coat of color down on the MGB GT. I'm painting it with Tamiya X3 Royal Blue mixed with Mr Leveling Thinner. Wet sanding next before the second coat in order to knock back the high spots and take care of a bit of stray dust.

The MGB is looking very nice. My mum had a '73 GT in dark blue and she loved that car.

I am about 3/4 of the way through my second build of the C1 conversion and really enjoyed the builds so far. Chris is about to offer a Sebring race version which I have on pre-order and am really excited about.

Looking forward to seeing more progress on yours. A little tip for you, I used the thin double sided tape usually sold for mobile phone repairs, to fix the glass panels in place, it works very well. The templates provided are really quite accurate and a testament to the attention to detail of these conversion sets.

Well, I'm never using Bare Metal Foil for window trim again. lol As I continue with my build of the C1 Models GT Transkit for the Aoshima 1/24 MGB, I decided to give a try to masking and airbrushing chrome window trim rather than using foil. One evening, a bunch of Tamiya and Vallejo tape, and a bit of AK Interactive Xtreme Metal Chrome and I absolutely love the results!

That is a whole a lot of masking!  Good job on preventing any paint bleed. I don't know if it is the way the photos show the paint, but it looks just like silver paint, not metallic "chrome".  Maybe it looks better in person?

Great color and good masking job for the windows !  Glad I came across your build as I have the same project up next on my bench .

That’s an excellent job!!

I’ve just bought the C1 conversation kit too. It’s very nicely moulded. Can’t wait to get start.

I know what you mean about BMF. Your decision to spray chrome the window surrounds was definitely the right way to go. Looks great.

First mock-up with the chassis all done. Discovered a slight issue with the dashboard needing trimmed but easy enough to correct and otherwise the interior is all done. Loving the way this car is coming together and it's on the home stretch!
