The Tom Daniels Cop Out is 1/24 scale isn’t?

Yessir…I’m not sure how accurately scaled it is, but it was always marked as 1/24th scale on the box

TD said the split was ugly.......just wondered if COP might set some off.......

I misunderstood , you were asking that maybe it isn't Tom Daniel but the word "Cop" that was a problem . I get it now , my mistake . :)

No more Tom Daniels or is it the word 'COP' is triggering????

The General Lee Effect?

I just hope they at least come up with some cool markings, like they did for the Badman, and make it look the part of a vintage funny car.

Does anyone have the story on that? I'd like to learn what happened

TD said only it had to do with BAJA  BANDITO and the new owners at Revell.....no other details.

The Cop Out is a TD design, they can't use it. Nothing else, people like to try to drag their politics into everything on here even if it's verboten.

Yeah New Revell ownership refused to pay him what he was owed from Hobbico Ownership and so he took his copyrights and went home. He'd rather have nothing than something I guess (since that all happened before he started working with Atlantis on their stuff they acquired from Revell).

Putting the police lights on the Duster would essentially be COPying Daniels' idea, I'm pretty sure the original Cop Out was the first non-stock car kit with police equipment (other than the various paddy wagon kits out there, and TD designed one of those).  Round 2 probably still has Tom McEwen licensing so Revell might be locked out of doing the Duster as the original Mongoose version.  With the two best remembered versions off the table, Revell has to do something else with the kit in order to issue it...no more, no less.

Anyone know if they could keep the “police” parts in the kit, but just not advertise them on the box and be legally in the clear?

I don't see why not. TD doesn't have copyright over that lighting equipment.

That would be really cool! I had the Duster's Last Stand when I was a kid, but never this version. Would love to see it come back!

So going back to the 1/16 Firebird kit, with Revell's current track record of adding new decals to their re-issued kits, hopefully they add a bunch more decals to their (assumed) re-issue. I don't have my kit on hand to check, but here's what I found for the first issue of the kit:

Sad isn't it? Talk about minimum effort!

I really hope they add some underhood decals, some dash/console decals, and some GTA emblem decals at a minimum. What would be extra nice is if they also add the decals for the regular Trans Am in silver and gold, since the main visual differences between the Trans Am and GTA are the two-tone paint and wheel color (assuming you got the same mesh-spoke wheels).

If you are old enough to recall Paul Harvey.........'Now you know the rest of the story'.........

But when it comes to business the story often remains untold.  During my years doing NASCAR licensing I saw first hand many things that would make great stories......IF I outlive all parties I can tell them.....but not right now!!!! ?

I'd be just as happy if they decided not to reissue the Duster and instead explored some alternate decal options for the Hawaiian Charger they released in 2010. I do understand that the Chi-Town Hustler was a particularly unique car so it's not nearly as viable for altered reissue but sure there are other interesting Chargers either in period or on the nostalgia circuit that the kit could represent.
