Mike C. Posted July 2, 2022 Posted July 2, 2022 (edited) I'm thinking maybe they just changed the decal colors. ????? Edited July 2, 2022 by Mike C.

Since it's already July, I would surely hope so! ? 13 hours ago, Can-Con said: Yup, exactly. Anyone else disappointed? Don't you see it? Round 2 already has another reissue planned in the future. At that time it can include nothing more than Coke logos and these graphics on the decal sheet. That way they can get us to buy another round of kits. BRILLIANT IDEA!! 2 1 1

I recall it my have starred Mark Harmon from the NCIS show of today. Is this an accurate memory? If so that could be a fun project if decals could be found or made. The show was 240-Robert. From the same team that brought us "CHiPs". They were the LA county Sheriff's department search and rescue team, show ran from 1979-1981. The first season used a '79 Bronco, the subsequent seasons used an 1980 Bronco, of which I believe Revell offered a model of. 1

Looks like it may be these. I actually prefer these over the Free Wheeling decals. To me the FW decals are too much and gaudy looking. 1
Jordan White Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 Apparently I misunderstood, the ones in the kit are the 1978 Free Wheeling decals, whereas the 1979 version are the larger ones that most people recognize.

Other than the decals, what's the difference between 78 and 79?
Mike C. Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 (edited) I was just thinking that same thing. You could say the round vs. rectangular headlights but it is my understanding that ford changed them somewhere around midyear '78. Edited July 4, 2022 by Mike C.
olmadmodeler Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 It doesn't matter to me I will have to paint the the stripes like the one I had, I just can't seem to find the right tires and wheels.
PintoKING Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 As far as I know, the 1978 "base models" broncos & trucks had the round headlights, but the "up-levels(?)" had the square headlights. All the 1979 broncos & trucks had the square headlights.

Hard to tell in that picture the size and type of tires on your Bronco, can you share with us? Scenes Unlimited carries some larger off road tires but he is currently closed due to some health reasons but hopes to be back soon. Fireball Modelworks also carries some bigger tires and I think he has some new ones coming that might work.
Jordan White Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 A good thread with some differences between the 2 years. Not sure how accurate the kit is to a real 1978 but this will help for those who want a factory stock version. https://www.broncozone.com/threads/differences-between-78s-79s.12757/
Mike C. Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 IResin 1/25 15" American Racing Nugget or Outlaw II Style Wheels | eBay I agree Mike. Fireball has a verity of tires that might work. As for those wheels, Casey has similar resin ones on his Ebay store.
olmadmodeler Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 I wish I could remember the size I had this back in 1985 just can't remember it was a 79 with square headlights. I will check with Fireball and Casey. Thank you.
Jordan White Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 Assuming those are 15” wheels, a quick proportion measurement looks like they are around 35” tall (probably 35x12.5-15s)

Mike C. Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 Thanks for clearing that up. My mind is not what it used to be like when I was younger. ?
olmadmodeler Posted July 4, 2022 Posted July 4, 2022 I think your right Jordan, remember it was 1985 not too much in big wheels then that I remember.

Dodge did it too. For the vans at least. My uncle had a 1980 Dodge van conversion. Custom interior and paint, but dog dish caps and round headlights. Guess he didn't want to pay for custom wheels.

Mike C. Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Those wheels do look very close but those High Roller kits are considered vintage kit now. You see them pop up from time to time on Ebay and the like. If you want one you better be willing to shell out some serious cabbage. ?

Congrats to you Roger or if you did not build it, to whoever else did it....TB
olmadmodeler Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 Thank you Roger, Can I ask what you had to do to the suspension to get it up there.
stavanzer Posted July 6, 2022 Posted July 6, 2022 cant help wit the wheels but the tires are easy right now.
