I generally don't do a WIP but I thought what the heck on this one.

I have some very wide aftermarket 5-spoke resin (similar to TorqueThrusts) wheels I'm hoping to use. Otherwise will be pretty much OOB.

Not disclosing the topcoat color yet but today got the basecoat on the body. Paint is Createx Pearl Gold over Createx Autoborne black sealer.

Thats all for now folks?

Good start on that 57 Buddy.  That base coat looks like it layed down nicely.  I'll be watching.

That pearl gold looks nice. Does the Autoborne black need much thinning. I've found the white needs very little, only 2 or 3 drops of 4011 shooting with a Iwata Neo with .35 needle.

Thanks... Yep, a few drops of 4011 will do it.  One thing I don't like about the Auto Bourne black is you have to be careful not to scratch it. It dries quick and smooth but not very tough.

Already looks nice in pearl gold! Following ...

I agree, almost has me wondering if I want to put the different color on it.

Looking good Mike!  Are you going to foil, or use the pen?

Thanks Chaz, and yep, the dreaded BMF for allllll that trim work.

Great kit to work with and your gold base coat would look good with just clear. Candy red or green maybe?

If I were going to build a '57 Chevy, I'd probably pick this kit. Lots of cool parts. Just not a fan of the Corvette wheels. I look forward to seeing the color on it!

It is  a nice kit with great detail and parts. Are you trying to get me to reveal the color David???

I just picked this kit up at the autorama. AMT did not do this kit any favors with those wheels and box art.

What is the "autorama".?

Looks really nice! What do you use to highlight the trim, window, and door handles?

The door panel trim is actually ModelMasters Chrome, the door handles and window cranks are Molotow Chrome..

As for the piping on the seats, I used narrow cut strips of BMF.  First time I ever did this on the Bel Air seats. Luckily I still have a little of the old good BMF that actually sticks.

Thank you Greg, Chaz and James.  I've done a few '57's and the seats on this one came out the best so far.  I was hesitant to do the silver piping but I'm glad I did.
