landman Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Opened this up. Hopefully I'll make something presentable out of it. 3
rrb124@sbcglobal.net Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 Good kit! I built it long ago. The 8 lug wheels are crisp and accurate and the Tri Power carbs are realistic. Of all the full size Pontiac models that have the 421 engine, this one is the only one with the emblems provided. People will correctly point out that the body is too long and actually a reworked Bonneville body but we are lucky to have this kit available.

I'm told they are the same size as the Prowler's rolling stock, but the flame thread pattern is unique to this kit. The real concept truck had those, so they replicated them in the kit. That kit also has a Viper engine, and a very detailed custom frame and suspensions, and a cool interior. So, a trove of parts perfect for mashups! CT
slusher Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 This is a kit I never built but always wanted too. I will be watching…

Bob Ellis Posted April 14, 2022 Posted April 14, 2022 The body can be shortened , or use the Grand Prix body as a base. The 2+2 interior is very nice and unique compared to the Bonneville. 1
landman Posted April 27, 2022 Author Posted April 27, 2022 I have it painted. The lower belt chrome trim isn't well defined on the model. Might be a challenge to foil. 2
drodg Posted April 27, 2022 Posted April 27, 2022 I will be eager to watch your build. I have this and I have Sean Carpenter's convertible with the correct wheelbase but have never built either.
landman Posted April 28, 2022 Author Posted April 28, 2022 Completed the dash today. the interior will be pearl white with black carpets.
Kah puts Posted April 28, 2022 Posted April 28, 2022 Built mine 15 years ago and it's still one of my favorites. Yours looks awesome. 1 1

GMCMAN52 Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 your off to a great start. love Pontiac's big or small 1
bisc63 Posted April 29, 2022 Posted April 29, 2022 I know you have plans already, but that red car is just a big ol' piece of CANDY!

Initially I was hoping to replicate a red Parisienne Custom Sport someone had in the village I grew up in. But the Custom Sport was Bonneville with a Grand-Prix grill, so it wouldn't even have looked the same. 2
landman Posted May 13, 2022 Author Posted May 13, 2022 Completed the interior. things take longer now with the yardwork, the drinks by the Bay, the bike ridesand all the other chores.
David G. Posted May 13, 2022 Posted May 13, 2022 Everything looks great so far! Nice detail on the dash. David G. 1
espo Posted May 13, 2022 Posted May 13, 2022 I like how your interior and chassis has come together. You had mentioned a bright red color, and that would look great. I'm going to build one starting in a couple of weeks and use the one year only Evening Orchid color but with a black interior. 1

It'll likely look darker and less gray with clear on. 1
landman Posted May 20, 2022 Author Posted May 20, 2022 I have started with the foiling. My foil appears to have exceeded its useful life, it doesn't stick very well and tears easily. I ended up using the chrome pen for some of it. The strip along the lower body molding would work well with line-o-tape pinstriping tape except it vanished in the move somehow. So I am going to park this until I get some.
David G. Posted May 20, 2022 Posted May 20, 2022 Nice color, it's all coming along quite well. Love the diorama too. David G. 1
slusher Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 The new foil that sticks is out. Anything lost in a move reappears when you buy a new one..
Bills72sj Posted May 21, 2022 Posted May 21, 2022 Following. I have both this kit and the Grand Prix. I want to do a front clip swap. 2+2 front with GP rear.
