Just started messing with the 50 Ford. Fitted the custom front pan and grill opening.  I have also fitted the rolled rear pan and frenched the headlights and removed the door handles and side trim.

I have set the ride height as it's going to be a kerbside.

Thanks for looking Lee

I see you also are using the chopped windshield, are you going to use the Carson style top?

My kit didn't come with the Carson top. Not sure what I'm going to do

Did your kit have the chopped hardtop? This and the '49 model are both one of my personal favorites so I always get real interested when someone is building one.

Kerbside, with a "K". I dig it. This is a real good idea as this one is super hard to get that low without reworking the entire chassis. I'll be following along.

With all the interest in mock-ups here on the forum, I'm genuinely surprised we don't see more "kerbside" and slammers built up. Both were very popular in the late 90s and early 2000s, to the point that AMT was even producing slammer kits. Curbside is really grass-roots kit building, since early kits were pretty plain underneath anyway. It is a great way to flesh out an idea, paint work, stance, etc. for a possible later full detail build. (or not!)

Really liking how this is shaping up, and will be following along. Shoe box Fords are just cool.

Small update.

Got some half round styrene mounted to the front and rear which will be chromed once the body is painted.

Also frenched in the number plate to help break up the large rear panel when you use the rolled pan.

I have started work on a roof using the standard up-top which I have chopped to match the screen height and smoothed out.

Thanks for looking Lee

I think the bumper addons give a more realistic and practical look.

I quite agree. I wish I'd thought of it when I built my '49. Well done.

Update

Got the body in a coat of primer, a couple of spots need more attention but happy how it looks.

Got the roof shape roughed out still some way to go before I'm happy with it.

Thanks for looking Lee

The roof you're working on is starting to look a lot like the Carson style roofs from that era. They were padded and the rear window would be small like the way you have done this here.

Thanks. That's the look I'm going for
