I built several iterations of this kit, the 3-widow, 5-window and the Sedan.  All the Revell kits are very good and share a lot of parts among these three kits. The last one I built, photo below, was OK but the paint wasn't great and I  thought I would be cute and add some chrome foil along the bottom edge. I wouldn't try that again with today's foil. So I thought with Memorial Day and July 4th coming up maybe red, white and blue would be a fun build!  So here goes!  Thanks for looking! ?

Maybe a high-boy version. I still have to clear the body and rub everything out.

Everything fits better with the full-fendered version.

After seeing this build and considering the idea behind it, I think I just might start building with fenders for a change ?. Great idea, John, and quite inspirational.

Thanks, All! I appreciate your comments!

Its been a few days since I posted any progress on this build, but other things got in the way and I also had some paint issues that needed to be resolved. The red and blue paint was cleared and rubbed out fine. The Tamiya pearl white wouldn't cover the gray primer so I used some Krylon flat white as a base for the pearl white. That came out fine but when I went to clear it I guess I didn't wait long enough for the Krylon to dry and the clear lifted the white paint. So I sanded out the white paint and re-painted.

I also built the engine and chassis box stock. The  chassis front suspension and exhaust headers are fiddly, but taking one glue joint at a time with some medium CA seems to work out fine and the chassis and engine are complete. The red, white and blue interior is also installed. I mocked-up the full-fendered version again to make sure everything will line up. Thanks for looking! ?

Thanks, Mike! I appreciate your comments!

Body has met the chassis and fenders and the hood and radiator are in place. In order to close the gap between the body and the rear fenders I used a very "sophisticated" method of applying pressure to the body (inner edges of body lined with medium CA) while the ends of the rear fenders are sitting on a sanding block and the wheels are off the ground.  Fenders are loose from the chassis in the rear.

Next I mounted the radiator shell and radiator support so that the hood and hood sides would sit.  This also involved gluing the front ends of the firewall to the frame with pressue to get it to sit just right.  Then I place the sides on and glued the hood to the sides so that I could remove it as one piece once the glue dried. Everything worked out OK! Just a few more pieces and this one will be done!  Thanks for looking! ?

This one is done!  Well, almost done - I think I will repaint the hood once I get some more paint,  since the bar in the middle that I touched up with a brush isn't very pretty. But  its done for now! My Memorial Day tribute build! Thanks for looking!
