Resting on the big and complex kits. Need a little break. So am doing a revell 49 merc. 40 fords are not my cup of tea, but I thought I would try it. I thought I would try old custom with new. 49 merc with a 2007 Shelby supercharged engine,  trans and rear end. Modern tires and wheels. Had to mini tub the floor pan and modify the frame to have the tires and wheels fit. I thought it would be a simple easy build then my brain got in the way. So far it’s a very fun kit. Here is what I have so far.

Beautiful looking paint finish on the body. Like the drive train swap idea.

Thank you espo, here is a pic of the Shelby engine in the bay. Mock up. Tight fit

That looks really great so far. Tell us more about your paint :)

Thank you gman. The paint is tamiya primer, tamiya ts 14 black, multi tone base, with a automotive urethane clear.

Mock up of the Shelby supercharged engine. Tight fit. Had to remove the battery. Left a hole in the apron.  But it will be perfect for the cold air intake. Hood on and the engine clears.

I'm liking this one.  Great looking 49 Merc.  Love that color and those wheels & tires really make the car.

Paint looks great ! I like that you painted the wheels. The black looks better to my eye.

Thank you Ray, yes I just kept looking at the gold for the wheels , and it did not look right. Black just looked better on this car.,

Making the best out of the hole where the battery was. Cold air intake from the Shelby. Heated it up and bent it into place.  Just might work.

Forgot, I put the electric fan on the front . Will need a lot of air thru the radiator to keep that monster cool.

Looks great. Love the color. Just run that fan in reverse, it will be be fine. ?

Thank you. It was a puller fan. But a pusher works. We just put one in my buddys 1967 LS camaro.

The real stance.  Massiiive effort to get the stance I want. I modified everything in the front end. Has a slight rake. I’m going to look at it for a bit. To see if something does not look right. Might drop the rear a tad more.

Low and level looks great. Personally, I don't think rakes do much for customs.

I agree. The rake just did not do it. My first custom, just going by my feeling on this one.
