Nosferatu Posted July 7, 2022 Posted July 7, 2022 (edited) My friend sent me this pic of a VW van pulling a VW camper. I have had a couple VW van models that I had been thinking on what to do with them for a coupe years. After I saw his email with the pic that sealed it! The pic: Of course I will be adding my own touches. After about an hour or so I had this. It was made from the Tom Daniels Baja Beast. The other van (not shown) is a 23 window partial glue bomb. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. All constructive criticism welcome. Dave Edited July 7, 2022 by Nosferatu 3
iamsuperdan Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Very familiar with your inspiration pic! I've been a VW fan/owner for years, and have that one saved somewhere. Looking forward to seeing yours!
ksnow Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 Cool build. When I first saw the title, I thought I'd see this:
espo Posted July 8, 2022 Posted July 8, 2022 I like the tow vehicle you're using even more than the one in the picture. The current issue of the magazine has another view of the model in your picture as well.
Nosferatu Posted July 8, 2022 Author Posted July 8, 2022 Thanks for all you kind comments! I am looking forward to this challenge. 1

Nosferatu Posted July 9, 2022 Author Posted July 9, 2022 I found some seats to recycle and a home made dash from styrene and dash parts. I will need to putty all the imperfections in the dash. Dave 1
Nosferatu Posted July 12, 2022 Author Posted July 12, 2022 I added a hatch to get to the engine. A VW engine wouldn’t fit so I used a Corvair 6 banger instead.
slusher Posted July 14, 2022 Posted July 14, 2022 nice engine to add some extras and get more power..
Nosferatu Posted July 22, 2022 Author Posted July 22, 2022 I primed the body and puttied and its ready for another coat of primer, I also installed the engine. I decided to use the baby moons for the wheels (unless I find something better). Thanks for looking. Dave
Nosferatu Posted July 31, 2022 Author Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) I did a bit of bodywork and put on the suspension and wheels (they need a bit more adjusting). Working on the interior of the camper now-no pics yet. Edited July 31, 2022 by Nosferatu 2
misterNNL Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Are you keeping the TD windows or grafting in stock ones to tie the designs together?

The TD van has been originally altered in quite a few ways. I may alter the trailer side door windows to match the TD van. Neither the tow van nor the trailer will have front doors.
