Zippi Posted July 13, 2022 Author Posted July 13, 2022 Ok fellows, I have the front and rear suspension glued in place and a trial fit shows that I got the stance I was going for. I also have a rolling chassis and I got the holes drilled for the windshield wipers.

Zippi Posted July 15, 2022 Author Posted July 15, 2022 I got some paint on the body this morning. Didn't quite turn out like the spoon test but then again it never does for me. It's a little grainy & chunky. May take a lot of elbow grease to flatten it out. If I can get the paint to fatten out I'll be airbrushing a few coats of gloss clear over it.

They have a very familiar looking red 3100 Chevy pickup that they will have on Thursday night. Could that be your pride and joy or just a look alike?
bluestringer Posted July 15, 2022 Posted July 15, 2022 Paint looks great from here Bob. I used the Tamiya acrylic thinned with the Mr. Hobby leveling thinner on my Duster and I didn't get the smooth glossy finish I thought I would. May be the weather, it's been bad humid here.

Also have a couple of resident armadillos hanging around. Plus a bunch of rabbits.

They are impostors. RUBY is safe in my garage. Well.......let me go look ☺

Thanks James. I always let the humidity get at or below 60%. The Tamiya acrylic paints seem to like to go on wet. I mix mine 2-1 but I'm going back to 50-50. I've tried light coats and it just doesn't seem to do right.

TooOld Posted July 16, 2022 Posted July 16, 2022 Just came across this build Bob , really sharp looking truck ! It looks great lowered with the bigger tires . I used to always spray a light tack coat before spraying the wet coats but found that Tamiya doesn't like that , always ends up a but grainy . Now I only spray wet coats .
