JollySipper
Seems that I read somewhere that you're not supposed to....... It's kinda difficult not to move at least a little to this, though! It doesn't have the sitar solo, which is too bad as it makes the album version.......
espo
Try a combination of a little Salza and Cha Cha. Lots of twirling and head twisting. Whatever the body feels like doing. Listen to this and try and sit still. Lots of luck with that.
1972coronet
An actual Steely Dan would make anyone dance. Edited July 19, 2022 by 1972coronet 1
Mike C.
I stopped dancing when I first got in a band. I thought I was too cool for that. 😎😄

JollySipper
It's not that you Can't dance to the Dan, it's that you should just chill, sit back and listen to it. They did a lot of work to their albums in the studio to get them to sound just right.

cobraman
I danced twice in my life. Once at my wedding and again at my daughters wedding.

If you want to move to Steely Dan, "it's got a good beat and you can dance to it": (And as my friends know all too well, I spent many years in an Aztec dance troupe...)

TonyK
Most Steely Dan songs just need to be listened to and enjoyed but I can think of a few songs that would make you want to dance some. Reminds me of one of the wife's cousins who used to ruin a good dance party when he put on The Doors. Just not a group that makes you want to dance. Good music but not for dancing. Gee I was just at the eye doctor two weeks ago, I guess the bifocals are bad as was discussed. greg

Smoke Wagon
It is actually lawfully forbidden in 28 U.S. states, effective immediately after United States v. Ren McCormack. If found guilty, one could be sentenced up to 5 years in a state penitentiary, and be ordered to pay up to a $3,500 fine, as well as being added to the national dance offender registry.
Brian Austin
Most old Progressive Rock can be rather challenging to dance to as well. 😄 (I do recall at least one person trying to dance along throughout a Jethro Tull concert in the late '80s. I don't believe that person was particularly sober). 🙂

Claude Thibodeau
Hi! Having just read "NIGHTFLY: The Donald Fagen story", my takeaway is that "danceability" was the least of their concern. Happy for us! CT
