Sebring 12 Hours 1964 Proposed group build thread

This ghosted view shows the forward location of the engine - notice that the trans / clutch housing is at least 6 inches ahead of the bulkhead/ bonnett line … hard to tell exactly because of the side vent - but this engine is pretty far forward …

Cleaning up the electric wires on the right side of the  engine bay and attaching the splash panels to the bonnett - these parts are super thin - well done, Harold … extensions to the exhaust pipes - needed because the chassis was lengthened ….  Maybe some exhaust stains and heat stains to add ??

Saved most of the drama for the end- the bonnett swivels on a subframe that also supports the radiators - the kit part is resin - won’t be strong enough - ive replaced it w a brass part   - but i had to modify the frame , the air duct, and the radiator for a - not good - but a reasonable fit …

The left side exhaust header brace was cut apart to fit the exhausts into the openings in the cyl head - then repaired w some Evergreen strip - and some Tamiya weathering was applied …

The steering rod is U jointed - the kit part is correct but needs an extension with my other mods - and it just sneaks through the pipes … the measurements  were made to help locate the sub-frame when it was glued to the fr of the chassis …

Heat ?  The Shelby crew cut a hole in the roof four hours after the start of the Sebring race - if you can peer at the underside of the roof of 2287 at the Simeone,  you will see the welding scars fr the repair …

Carroll was down to the shop this morning - as the fuel tank and lower brace was installed - he was not happy - Carroll:  2287 was supposed to be on the trailor this morning headed to Sebring - us: its not ready Carroll - maybe tommorrow morning, Carroll - Carroll: im locking the shop on my way out- no one leaves til 2287 is finished …

Some final corrections / mods to the radiator and air duct - then attached - just enough room around the posts to hinge the bonnett - but i got to figure out how to install the oil radiator …

Gracias Rattle - if only i had fashioned some working bonnett clips …. Managed to connect the oil lines to the radiator …. Had to shorten the radiator to fit within the subframe - not spec but it will do …

Life is short.  Keep building.  So far I have only built one and that was decades ago.  I forgot I also built a Supercoupe Mini Exotics kit which I believe you had a hand in creating

The wheel nuts are resin kit parts- they required some tedious cleanup - but look good with a coat of airbrushed Molotow - and the tires look better with the MFH Goodyear markings - much closer to scale - thankfully running out of parts …
