I liked it with the slight rake it had but it looks good now too.

I did to Ray but I think as a more stock version the level stance looked better.  If it would have had a chopped top and some really kewl wheels then the rake would have been fine.

She looks sweet. I like the color and finish. As far as the rake, I would drop the rear a bit to make her look like shes moving just standing still but that's me.

Bob, the ride height looks perfect and nice job on the chrome!  I don't know how long it will take to dry though. I wouldn't touch it for awhile.

Thanks John.  It may look like it's setting level in the pics but it's a little nose high.  The chrome around the front and back windows is bmf.

Well...I didn't realize the rear glass was cracked and broke.  A double whammy.  I made one out of some a flat sheet of clear I had.  It's strange about the rear tail lights, there is no separate chrome frame for the red lenses.  There is a custom one but I don't like the looks of it.  Made a little headway on the interior bucket also.

This is looking good. I don't remember which Ford truck model had the Merc tail lights as an option.

So far, very nice. The colors fit a Mercury or similar car of that vintage well...works on Buicks, Hudsons, base-model Packards, DeSotos, Chrysler Windsors and Royals.

I have seen a couple of people suggest not handling Molotow for 5-7 days to allow it to set up fully so it's a little less susceptible to damage.

The Wedge RB is an interesting addition. I could see this re-motoring in an otherwise fairly stock car be not unheard of, although I always thought it was a bit odd AMT supplied a Chrysler engine instead of an FE or MEL Ford engine. An FE could be built to be quite powerful, and correctly set-up 390/406 was no wuss out of the factory.

Thanks Charlie.  I hear ya about the Chrysler engine.  That was the optional engine in the kit and I wanted to make it a bit of a sleeper.

Check out those Merc taillights in the 53 Bob they are chrome!

I will Carl.  Heading out to the garage shortly to check out the 53 kit.

The paint finish on this one is "tops" Bob!! A real shame about the taillights and rear window. Looks like AMT pulled a vintage Revell move on the tail lights there but knowing your skill set, I'm sure you'll negotiate this obstacle very well. Looking forward to more.

Ok fellows.....just checked my amt 53 Ford pickup kit and sure enough like you boys said, there were the chrome tail lights for the 49 Merc.  They are a little smaller in size and don't fit the contour of the body very well but a much better option than what I had.
