I can't afford to get them til later in December. If anyone else is interested, you should contact him through ebay. It's a shame he won't be continuing these, they look great! Ok, I just wanted to be sure you were going to be able to get a set. 1

Tom Geiger Posted November 21, 2022 Posted November 21, 2022 Hey rules guys! I do want to participate since I’m pretty passionate about TROG. Last time I went to the Wildwood races I told my friend we needed to have a car for next time! Yeah we didn’t! Anyway, I didn’t see rules about starting with a fresh kit VS something started. I have this… It’s a body I was playing with. Auburn meets Model A, after seeing a few boat tail cars at TROG it got me thinking. Right now it’s just a body I was figuring out on a junker chassis. I still may have to shorten it a bit right behind the pilot. Sooo.. can I enter this? Or do I need to do something else?
stavanzer Posted November 22, 2022 Posted November 22, 2022 Tom, looks Perfect to me, but it is note my Group. 1

Fat Brian Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 I got the 30 up on its wheels, a set left over from an old Orange Crate kit. The front is heavily dumped, I've to raise the engine up a bit to get the oil pan off the ground. 1

ModWrench Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 Count me in. Going to build one for the 4 banger class. Trying to keep it simple, thinking stock running gear with an open cab. 1
Fat Brian Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 I got the 29 up on its wheels today. This is going to be a more traditional east coast TROG style build. It's a 29 on 32 rails with a 32 shell and 39 brakes and a standard banjo rear-end. The engine is going to be a hopped up flat head with a LaSalle transmission. The one concession I made to my build style is that I widened the rear wheels to fit the wider kit rear tires. 1
Fat Brian Posted November 26, 2022 Posted November 26, 2022 How are the numbers determined? I notice some cars have numbers and a letter as well.

The numbers are given out or kept from previous years. All I know are that they are up to 3 digits. As far as I'm concerned, each builder can make up their own.

426 pack Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 Mind if I jump in? I was just in the process of mocking up a revell 29 roadster and was planning on doing it up as a race of gentlemen’s style car when I found this community build. 3

They're not forbidden, and I've always interpreted that to mean something's OK. And, so did Smokey Yunick. You're in good company. ? I'm pretty sure you two aren't alone, either! 1
Fat Brian Posted November 27, 2022 Posted November 27, 2022 (edited) I'm claiming 707 for the 29, mainly because it's the only 3 digit number I've got. And I'll take 121 for the 30. Edited November 28, 2022 by Fat Brian
Fat Brian Posted December 4, 2022 Posted December 4, 2022 I had to tweak on the 30 a bit. There was no way to move the engine up enough to work with how low the front was so I ended up raising the front about 1/8". I also made a flat firewall to get a bit more clearance for the engine. I also changed direction a bit, I was going to use the stripped interior but now that the 29 is going to be the more basic build I wanted to dress the 30 up more. This caused a problem. The stripped interior is also the channeled interior so to use the nice interior it also raised the body up. So to counter this I cut the interior frames from the channeled interior side panels and cut the nice side panels down to fit. I also cut the seat down to make the back panel of the interior, now to source some seats. 1

First, I understand not much stuff... I had to get rid of everything 12+ years ago and just got back into models back in August. In fact, I'm still buying the basics, such as glue, paint, tools. The rules are trying to stay true to the real California Drags... I will admit, I'm jealous, I'm trying to chase down a vintage helmet, thought I'd found a couple old AMT ones on EvilBay but the seller had lost them...
