Nosferatu Posted December 6, 2022 Posted December 6, 2022 (edited) I had two VW vans in a box for years and was saving them for a future project that I hoped I would think of building. A friend of mine had sent me a picture of a VW pulling a VW camper a few months ago and BAM! I found my “excuse” to build these VW vans. I had this in the WIP section and recently finished it. I cut the vans so they would fit in a towing position. For the VW tow vehicle I used Tom Daniels Baja Beast and the camper was a gluebomb I got one year at NNL East. For the tow VW I redesigned the interior. Seats from the parts box, dash (unfortunately cant be seen) was scratchbuilt from parts. I used oak veneer for the floor, made the VW picture and scratch built the fold down TV. The TV is hard to photograph as it is in a difficult angle. Being that the rear was altered I couldn’t fit in the VW engine so I used a Corvair engine. On that engine I made the dual carb setup. I used the same surfboard that came with the kit but altered it to reflect a more design – split tail and triple fins. For the camper I used the front part for the bed. All the seat and bed “fabric” was taken from pics on the internet and shrunk then printed on decal paper then applied with a matte coat over them. The interior was completely scratchbuilt with cabinets, handles, knobs, microwave, stovetop and the table. The biggest issue besides fitment was the color. I’m not happy with the color buy I had tried several turquoises and couldn’t get the color I had in mind. This paint didn’t go on well. It crinkled in some spots but I didn’t have the patience to mess with it any more. I recently started logging in my time spent on my builds. This one came out to 60 hours. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave Here is the pic my friend sent me. Edited December 6, 2022 by Nosferatu 2

Nosferatu Posted December 7, 2022 Author Posted December 7, 2022 Thanks for your comments. It was a fun and challenging build even though I had a lot of issues with the paint as you can see. Dave

Leica007 Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Very good job, liked the details and the hinged doors. I'll have to check out the WIP to see how you did your lift door hinges.
