Westrods Posted February 1, 2023 Posted February 1, 2023 Body is prepped for primer and paint, and I'm starting to mock up a roll cage using part bin roll bars. I've discovered while researching Chevy Citations that the kit is actually a 1980 Citation from the kit grill, and notch backs weren't available for the 1981 model year. 2
slusher Posted February 3, 2023 Posted February 3, 2023 Looking forward to your Citation build. I remember the commercial right befor they came out..

Luckily i have a garage with a heater and i work at a body shop so i have options 1
MeatMan Posted February 7, 2023 Posted February 7, 2023 I got started on the body of my Monza by switching out the stock front fascia with the custom one, which I modified for a more streamlined look. I'm currently in the process of smoothing the hood and front fascia to eliminate the dip. It takes away some of the Monza identity but I want to add another feature that won't work with the dip in the hood. I removed the bottom of the stock rear fascia and added the bottom of the custom one because I didn't want the 5 MPH bumpers but did want to retain the stock taillights. I added a strip of styrene rod for the bumper. One reason for that is that the taillight housing overlapped the pan, which resulted in an unfinished look. My inspiration for this look is the Super Spyder concept car in the last pic. 5
Jhedir6 Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 My R34 Skyline arrived a few days ago so I jumped right into the project. First up was to remove the hood, and removed the stock engine base and transmission from the chassis pan. I also decided to 3D print a bunch of parts, engine bay...and some accessories. Single turbo RB26 engine.. As well as some brakes and new seats. Engine bay is printed now, Engine and brakes files are currently printing and should all be done tonight. Files for detail parts are as follows: Brakes: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/ultimate-brake-disc-w-caliper-collection-1-24-scale-model-accessories Seats: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/recaro-pro-rms-racing-seat-in-1-24-1-43-1-18-and-1-12 RB26: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/nissan-rb26-rb30-hks-single-turbo-1-24 Engine Bay: https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/various/engine-bay-nissan-skyline-r33-r34-gtr-nissan-skyline-1-24 Time to get some parts clean up. Up first is the engine bay removed from the supports then grafted to the chassis (which needs to be cut down around the wheel wells and firewall. Hoping to have that done tonight. Thanks for looking in. 4

Beans Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Going a little overboard on the interior this time around... Added: 4 point seatbelt, cell phone, tablet stand and tablet, police scanner, infrared camera display, drinks, snacks and duffle, and had to scratch up a new e-brake handle and shifter. Still finishing the deleted rear seat and auxillary fuel tank. 3

426 pack Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 Finally found some time to sit down and get some work done on the 56. I’ve got the rear suspension fit to where I want it, it still needs some cleanup and link brackets built and I’ve started routing the exhaust. 2

That rear axle looks like the same on I'm using. A 12 bolt from one of the AMT Camaros.
MeatMan Posted February 13, 2023 Posted February 13, 2023 (edited) A little chassis update on my Monza today too. I'm a bit giddy because I managed to design and print replacement front A-arms to give it about a 3mm drop. I wanted to keep it simple by using the dimensions from the kit A-arms, which lacked any realistic detail. Still have to add springs and shocks or coilovers. The last pic is from my CAD program for clarity . Edited February 13, 2023 by MeatMan 2
White Rabbit Posted February 14, 2023 Author Posted February 14, 2023 I believe that 3D printing is great tool for the hobby; and it's great to see it being used to bring some of the CBR entrants' ideas to fruition! 1
JerseeJerry55 Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 I have decided to enter my 1970 !/2 Z28. Even with the slight sink hole in the roof I think I can correct that issue. I will create a separate build thread for the project. What is the deadline for the build off? New Jersey still has about 4 more weeks of Winter thanks to the that dang Possum (Punxsutawney Phil) seeing his shadow. Oh well this delay will allow me to change my mind another 1,500 times as I obsess over which paint color to choose. 1
White Rabbit Posted February 17, 2023 Author Posted February 17, 2023 Welcome to this year's Cannonball! The Run will end on December 1st, 2023 and final voting begins on December 3rd, 2023. So you still have about 9 1/2 months of build time.

I cannot express enough that building models is therapeutic. Love the subject matter. I built this as a kid and would like to build one again. Here is my entry all finished and posted under glass. 3
tim08 Posted February 26, 2023 Posted February 26, 2023 Nice 24hr job on that Merc Sam. Got a little done on the VW. Worked on the fender flares and front end. I want to use the rally front end so I had to drill out for the headlights. Got them a little crooked, but once I get the lenses in they should cover that up. Used the buckets out of a couple 69 Camaro kits The started messin with the wheel set up. I think the kit wheels are a little on the small side so I got these others out of a Supra kit I think. I'll probably go with Supra wheels if I can figure out how to mount them. That front flare looks to be way off but its not. It's the shadow playing tricks. Not really sure what the cutouts are for on the fender flares, maybe to cool off the brakes? Thinking about covering them up, not sure yet. Was reading on the site the other day. a subject came up about British racing green. I used some old testors stuff on a Jim Clark indy car a long time ago and really liked it. Thinking about going that way with the color. 1
