Jim B Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Here is my version of the Tamiya 21017 Ford Mustang GT4: The kit is box stock, and I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed building it. The kit went together really well, and any issues you see are totally mine. The car is as it appeared at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the only addition to the kit is the tire decals from Mike's Decals. I saw photos of the actual car online, and it had Continental tire logos. Well, I couldn't "unsee" that, so I had to add the logos. Interior: Sparco racing seat: Closeup of brake details: Underside: Completed car: Thanks for looking! 2
cobraman Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Looks great !I may need to get one of those. 1
tbill Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 That looks fantastic Jim, well done! As we talked, I think you’ve sold me on getting one of these kits! 1
Jim B Posted February 23, 2023 Author Posted February 23, 2023 Thanks, guys. Yes, definitely add this one to the stash.
TarheelRick Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Beautiful, clean build. That year Mustang just looks so wicked, and this racer version just adds to that look. 1
happy grumpy Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 Great looking Mustang. As complex as they might be, Tamiya kits are a joy to build. You did a great job on this kit . It' nice to see it as it appears on the box. 1
Jim B Posted February 23, 2023 Author Posted February 23, 2023 Thanks, Mario. I liked the gray color scheme. It was a great kit, but I did have a lot of trouble with the decals. Several of them are actually white glued on after they fell off. Amazingly I didn't lose any of them.
Funkychiken Posted February 23, 2023 Posted February 23, 2023 The tyre decals do make a difference, looks great! 1
Jim B Posted February 23, 2023 Author Posted February 23, 2023 Thanks, Atin. I thought they added just that little bit of detail the car was missing.
Zippi Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Nice looking Mustang GT4. Great job man. I bought one of these kits a while back because I heard the Tamiya kits were top notch. 1
Jim B Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Thanks, Bob. Yes, this Tamiya kit was definitely top notch.
Steve H Posted February 25, 2023 Posted February 25, 2023 Great looking build. I want to build one of these as a “street legal” car. 1
Jim B Posted February 25, 2023 Author Posted February 25, 2023 Thanks, Steve. I think you'd need to make a lot of changes to make this "street legal". Yes, Ford Performance gets white Mustangs straight from the factory (350GT, I think), but everything is changed.
