Nosferatu
I finished it! Total build time 32 hours. I narrowed a 1959 Imperial about an inch and cut off the front. I added a firewall from the parts box. All other parts were either from the parts box or scratch built. The exhaust pipes are hand made from aluminum wire and tubing. The paint is a 3 color process. after the primers I used a flat black, then a metallic silver sprayed at a distance so it lightly covered the black, then I used a Duplicolor Metalcast red anodized spray over all that and four coats. Then I polished it out. Thanks for looking and I hope you like it. Dave

Kodiak Island Modeler
There is a possibility that you may have voided the new car warrantee, but you sure did it with style.
XYHARRY
Way to use your spare parts David. I like that paint technique too and will be using it one day. Well done on your custom rod, it looks right out of the 60s. Cheers, David 😎👍

espo
Great looking body work and the paint looks like a fine metal flake. I might take 32 hours to figure out where to cut the body. Would like to know where the rear tires are from.

Cutting the body wasn’t really hard I located the middle and drew a line, then figured out how wide I wanted the body. I then measured half the distance and put a piece of tape along that line and did the same for the other side, then I made two cuts to remove the piece between the tape. After that I sanded the edges smooth and glued a piece of flat styrene under both pieces to hold them together. Then came all the puttying and sanding I’m sorry to say that I took the tires from my tire box and don’t know what model that came from. Steve H
Really cool, and well executed custom David!! I’ve thought about trying something like this for a few years now, but I’m not sure I could pull it off. I really like your paint on this one, thanks for the explanation on what you did to achieve the look. I’ll need to play with some spoons in the paint booth… Cheers, Steve
