Raul_Perez Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 (edited) Well, after several months of design changes, several cans of Testors lacquer paint and a few bits and pieces from several different kits, this one is finally done! Most of the body mods to the truck were done in the front end; pie-cut hood; wheel openings moved forward; the roof tilted down in the front; the custom nose extension from the AMT '50 Ford grafted on. The mirrors are from an AMT 97 Mustang and the door handles are from a Revell 40 Ford. The seat and the dash panel came from the Revell '99 Ford Lightning. The seat was painted and striped to match the upholstery in the Raptor show car. The mods to the rear were molding in the tail gate, adding the lower fin and the side-opening lids. This view also shows the side exhaust that came from the Lightning pickup. With this being a hauler with the trailer usually being behind it, there was no need for a tailgate and the side opening lids make it easier to get to stuff in the bed. The 4.6L supercharged V8 also came from the Lightning kit. The front chassis clip, suspension and exhaust came from the Lightning kit. A special thanks to my friend Bernard (GBK1) for the logo artwork on the trailer. Yes, I used a lot of BMF on the ramps. The taillights for all three pieces are the "V" shaped custom pieces from the AMT 57 Ford that were cut in half, bare-metal foiled and painted. If you're interested, here's the Link to the build. Thanks for following along...and no...I' haven't decided what's next. Later, Edited February 19, 2009 by Raul_Perez
robertw Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Even without reading your captions it is obvious that a great deal of creativity and work went into this build and it has paid off, this project is a winner. Every element flows together perfectly and you should be proud of your creation. robw
fordh8r Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 This, my friend, is an awesome build. Any chance you'll build a panel truck to match?
fordsixty Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 an EPIC told in three parts! a completely cool concept pulled wonderfully together by some outstanding talent and over the top execution. great job. and it is even ECO friendly. probably california mandated that even plastic models be equipped with current and functioning pollution control devices.
horsepoweraddict Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 This is a best of show winner in my book. such meticulous attention to detail on every piece and the paint is simply amazing your feet must be sooked from all the wetsanding. I have patience but I don't know if I have enough to turn something half this good out. Simply awesome man excellent work.

Bernard Kron Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It's a winner!!! Great to see the back end with the lights and number plate at last. Lotsa of great angles in the photos. The front 3/4 view of the Hauler shows just how perfectly proportioned and balanced this customized truck came out. All that subtle fine tuning that went into sectioning the hood, finessing the cab and roof sections, and moving the front wheel arches really paid off in integrating the custom nose into the rest of the bodywork. And the matching interior really complements the stripes and general color scheme. Finally, the four ensemble shots, particular the front and rear 3/4 views, highlight how successful the whole concept turned out to be. An epic it may have been, but one that was worth every bit of time, thought and skill invested in it.
Raul_Perez Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Thanks to everyone for your positive responses and support!! Yes, even though it's not a cat or a rat, it'll be at the NNL West. No, it will be a long time before I build another hauler and trailer rig. The combo takes up way too much room in the display case. Later,
Custom Hearse Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 It looks great Raul! You definitely have some serious talent! I wish I could see this in person!

Later, Like I said, you can always build them and send them to me It looks great Raul! You definitely have some serious talent! I wish I could see this in person! I agree!!! Too bad I am on the opposite side of the country. I might be coming up on a PCS when I get back from whereever it is I am going. So we will have to see.
Peter Lombardo Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Very impressive hat trick. I love how all three elements of the build carry the theme and complete the package. The sum of the parts is certainly greater then the whole. Together they out the vision. I am reminded of the Mooneyes dragster and hauler. Back in the day, the truck, trailer and show car (or dragster) all complimented each other. Very period correct for the late 50’s / early 60’s. Very well done. It should be a big hit at the NNL West show.
Gray Smith Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 They look great Raul! I really liked the Raptor when I first saw it, its design just hits me in the right spot..lol. The truck and trailer both look great and carry the design very well. I'd say you have a great trio of models here, they all catch a design the is reminiscent of the 60's but is still very modern for today's times without being over the top. Great work!!! i'm inspired Gray
cruz Posted February 19, 2009 Posted February 19, 2009 Great job on this thing man, colors are just right too!!!!
