Lamborghini Countach double-build: LP400 & LP400S (Tamiya, 1/24 scale)

Hi there,

I had both Tamiya kits in my stash and couldn't decide which one to build... so I did both.

As the kit sold as "LP500S" is basically replicating an LP400 modified for billionaire Walter Wolf in 1975, I used it as a basis for making an LP400S. The LP400S was the first official "update" for the original (LP400) Countach in 1978. It had new features like the wideboy, modified front, modifiied engine bonnet cover, high performance tyres and the rear wing (optional). I chose to cut the molded-on wing off mine, as I wanted a little bit "purer" look. I corrected the front by using parts from a Fujimi 5000QV donor kit. The roof however remained incorrect, it still has the "periscopio" structure. I wasn't willing to put THAT much work into changing it.

LP400:

I used Tamiya Metallic Orange over a layer of Gold to create a look that is very similar to Lamborghini "Oro Metallizzato Longchamp". The interiour has been painted with a mix of orange and brown Tamiya acrylics. I added carpet, seat belts and pedals (which are missing in the kit). I also did some engine detailing on this one.

LP400S:

I found one Countach on the internet which was painted in Ferrari (!) Verde Pino. It looked fantastic with the golden wheels so I went for this combo too. Overall, this has less interior and engine detailing than the LP400, but I decided to open the pop-up headlights on this one.
