This is the Mobius 64 Nova, this was a really nice kit that went together really well, any issues with this build were of my own doing! This was the first time I used MCW enamel paint, very nice paint but again the paint didn’t come out that well due to my own fault, the hood doesn’t quite match the body even though I painted them at the same time. Next time I will tape the hood from the inside and paint with it on the body. Anybody that has any tips for this please let me know! I used some Cragar wheels with the AMT parts pack gold line tires. These are nice but the tires didn’t fit with a “positive” location so I epoxied them in. Comments always welcome!

Been looking at these Moebius kits for a while wondering about how well they go together. Your build has helped answer that question - nice colour and chrome work and choice of wheels. :^)

How was your experience with MCW enamel paint?  Did it go on well?  Require special thinner?

It went on nice, the color was called a Milano maroon metallic, the metallic was very fine. As with most of my paint jobs the problem was me! I just didn’t get the hood even color with the rest of the car, this is cleared with 2 part automotive clear and I just thinned it with cheaper lacquer thinner. I also recently used one of their lacquers and I liked that a lot!

Very nice.

Overall a clean, well done build with very nice colour choices.

I am getting to like the Moebius kits. It is clear that they are making the effort to produce good quality kits. So far I have not been disappointed with their kits. Many of the old AMT/MPC/Revell re-re-re-releases are starting to leave me a bit wanting; sometimes they are our only choices however.

cheers, Graham

Thanks for the info Phillip. I’ve been trying to avoid enamels but these look interesting. Your comment on the metallic is key as the flakes in some brands can look out of scale. ?

I always liked the look of day two cars. As a young kid, you had to make the car yours and a change of wheels was usually the first change. Yours looks beautiful and I too love your color choice. Changing paint types, or manufacturers is always a challenge as I recently learned.

Great looking color and shows the body lines well. Like the detailed engine and undercarriage. You mentioned the tire clearance problems. Thing to remember these cars didn't have very big wheel well openings to begin with and were design around the base 6-cylinder engine with 6.50x14 tires on 5" wide wheels. Even in our scale you can see why going much bigger gets you into the body. An example, I bought a beater Chevy ll in the '70's and put the factory rally wheels and E70x14 tires from my '72 Nova SS on it. I hammered on the wheel wells front openings to clear in the front tires so that I could even turn the wheels.

Looks great to me, Phillip. Great color for those cars.

Since you asked for tips, those wheels arn't Cragars, they're Hurst wheels. Not as common and IMHO, suit the car more then Cragars would. ?, ,  [as much as I like Cragars too]

Looks very nice. Forgive me what does MCW stand for? I usually avoid metallic colors because of flake size. Thanks.

Model car world, I think for the most part they just do paints but I could be wrong!
