It does take a bit though... I have some on hand. Maybe that is what I used before. I'll switch it over and see how it works.
MarcelT4 Posted July 31, 2023 Posted July 31, 2023 Dowanol or Methoxypropanol can help. Remove all paints.

Zippi Posted August 2, 2023 Author Posted August 2, 2023 The 55 body sat in 91% isopropyl for 3 day then two days in the purple pond. It did nothing but take little spots off. I sanded the body this morning with 400 grit and it still does not feel smooth and the body is starting to feel soft. I guess I'm admitting defeat on this one guys. 1
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Just a thought but add some rust and weathering and make a grungy barn find racer from it. Just a thought.
oniworks86 Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 hi, you can try out citristrip in aerosol, jug or can. ive used it on 30+ year old paint unknown which kind and it took it right off.
Supernurd Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Looks like it was pulled out of the ocean. It would look good in a junkyard diarama

Considering what some builders have done just to get this texture on a build, why not give it a flat clear dusting and keep going?

ModelcarJR Posted August 2, 2023 Posted August 2, 2023 Try some Easy Off oven cleaner. You can even use some fume free oven cleaner. Just spray it good and put it in your covered plastic container for a couple of days. Lift one corner to get some air in. it might take a couple of days but I think you have a good start on getting a lot off. it only needs a little more time. Wash it off under hot water in the sink and it should get most of it off. Tamiya will come off. I unfortunately have done it many times. I like the oven cleaner better as it works a little faster than Super Clean. 1

bobss396 Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 I stripped an old Tamiya rattle-can job recently, used Castrol Super Clean and it was a chore. Wound up wet-sanding the rest off in a course of a few days. I'm not big on decanting Tamiya sprays. The cans work so well as is. I have a heavy hand with anything I paint, no mist coats here. For clear, the TS13 is good, again it sprays well and dries hard. The X22 is too soft for my liking.

I did spray the body late last night with Easy-Off oven cleaner as was suggested and this morning I just touched it with a toothbrush and the paint was coming off. I'm going to leave it until tomorrow morning then rinse it off. Yeah, the X-22 clear does take a while to harden. After it sets for an hr or so I put it in my easy bake oven and let it cure for a few more hrs at 104°.
ModelcarJR Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 If you don't get it all off and have some stubborn spots, spray it again and let it sit another day. Paint is stubborn but it will come off. Good luck!
mustang1989 Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 Just found this and don't know why I didn't see it earlier. I'm with JR on giving it another try to get all the paint off.....it's worth at least a shot Bob. Will be following this now that I've found it in hopes that you'll press on .

NOBLNG Posted August 3, 2023 Posted August 3, 2023 “CAUTION: perseverance may be required!” Should be printed on every model box and every paint can.? Good luck with it Bob!?

But it does the trick. My dehydrator is not working, I need another base. I had wired in a house dimmer switch, it worked for a long time. I run it at 105, I have a candy thermometer built into the lid.

I don't remember where I got my Easy-Off from but it seems to be working. Good looking dehydrator.
