I think the Testors enamel in the dehydrator a couple days would hold the tape, if it does leave faint tape marks, the clear would probably cover them.

Thanks for the infor Roger.  I think I'm going to err on the side of caution.

I just shot the Tamiya X-22 Clear on the 55 about an hr ago.  All in all it turned out pretty good.  Once again I picked up some trash while spraying.  just not sure how this is happening as the last two paint jobs where pretty much trash free and I clean my spraybooth the same every time.

Lookin’ good. ?  Awesome that you stuck with it! ?

I’m a fan of X-22 as well, however it’s a dust magnet like Alclad Candy enamels.  It takes forever to dry and feels ‘soft’ for quite a while.  A few things I’ve tried over the past couple years:  vacuum the room; vacuum and wipe down the booth with a damp cloth; spray-mist the air/room with water from a pump bottle to pull dust out of the air and stop it from coming up off the floor; brush off the model with Tamiya’s anti-static brush (don’t know if this really works, but why not); and to get really anal, don’t wear long sleeves.

Thanks man.  I don't go that far but I do shut the garage door, clean the spraybooth, wipe the model down, and spray a mist coat of Windex inside the spraybooth.  As soon as I'm done painting I set it in my dehydrator and let it flash for about 45 min before I turn it on at 104° for 24 hrs.

For most of us I'd say that a small amount of "trash" floating in the air is normal. If you're like me, you've got an average to slightly less than ideal/ perfect painting environment. I'll usually get that one "floater" that winds up in my paint work. In that case, wet sanding and polishing are my best friends. This is looking great so far Bob.

Thanks man.  Yup, that's the next step wet sanding and polishing.  But, since I've been having so much trouble with paint and clear drying, it's going to set for a minute.

So often I get an idea for a further enhancement but end up leaving well enough alone.  I think you reached that point regarding the white roof. ?  I am impressed how good the body looks after all the work you went through stripping the Tamiya maroon paint.  I have found stripping Tamiya lacquer to be a challenge at the best of times.  The red you laid down looks great!  I'll be following along as this build progresses.

Nice save on this one Bob. The red looks great. Looking forward to seeing the Nomad finished.

Thanks James.  It's actually called "Sunburst" but I was calling it orange.

Thanks Andrew.  Yup, I stayed safe on this one.  BMF is next

Looks like this morning I'm able to handle the body lightly.  Don't want to take a chance on getting finger prints on this one.  I did a little mockup to make sure the hood and tailgate still fit after the paint and clear has gone on.  The fitment is pretty good.  I may start wet sanding early next week.

Looking really good. Take your own advice and use caution as you proceed. Let it rest for a little bit. It's too nice to mess with. Jus sayin'.

I hear ya man.  I'm going to let it gel until early next week.

Looking good Bob! That’s a great colour choice.

Thanks Steve.  The more I look at it the better I like it.  Testor's has discontinued that color.
