afx Posted October 2, 2023 Author Posted October 2, 2023 The kit provides side window frames but they are very fragile witness the broken one. I made my own. 3
Pierre Rivard Posted October 3, 2023 Posted October 3, 2023 Looks super good JC. What dimension Evergreen have you used for that?

afx Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 I prefer the look of the car without the vent windows, fortunately I was able to find photos of the car competing without them.

afx Posted October 5, 2023 Author Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) According the Racing Sports Cars it is chassis #1013 and was driven by Bob Holbert and Don Wester. https://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1963/Sebring-1963-03-23-044.jpg Gurney and Holbert drove the same car at Sebring in '62 https://www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1962/Sebring-1962-03-24-048.jpg Edited October 5, 2023 by afx

Rattlecan Dan Posted October 10, 2023 Posted October 10, 2023 Looking really nice. Great attention to detail. Gonna be nice. 1
afx Posted October 15, 2023 Author Posted October 15, 2023 Fiddly bits: Sliced a piece of tubing for the head light trim rings I'll install a piece of rod later to simulate a bulb in the headlight housing added the release buttons for the door handles that will also act as a mounting pin
afx Posted October 15, 2023 Author Posted October 15, 2023 And just because a photo of Dan Gurney putting a Speedster thorough it paces. 1
Pierre Rivard Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Making your own headlamps and door handles...beautiful craftsmanship!
Straightliner59 Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 You're really doing some beautiful work, here, JC. Love the attention to the headlights, and the door handle mounting is ingenious! Great job, sir.

afx Posted October 21, 2023 Author Posted October 21, 2023 (edited) Recently picked up a Revel RS60 glue bomb. The Revell is a very nice 1/24 scale slot car body kit. The builder fabricated a crude chassis. I have it disassembled and soaking in stripper. I have a mint kit in the original box (photos form the internet). I was very reluctant to cut into it in an attempt to build a static model, now I don't have to. Edited October 22, 2023 by afx 2
250 Testa Rossa Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Herb Deeks also did a resin kit based off the RS60 slot car. Unfortunately, this was short-lived because Herb got a cease-and-desist letter from Porsche. I spoke to Herb directly and he's the one who told me the whole story. He is selling off what he has left of the wire wheels because he lost his etcher. If you want them, act fast.
afx Posted October 22, 2023 Author Posted October 22, 2023 (edited) After a few days in the pond and some vigorous scrubbing I've got another Porsche project to work with. Edited October 22, 2023 by afx 2
porschercr Posted October 22, 2023 Posted October 22, 2023 Looking forward to seeing this, JC. Trevor 1
afx Posted October 23, 2023 Author Posted October 23, 2023 (edited) I've modified a 356 chassis to fit the RS60 body. It's not accurate to the 1:1 which was built on a tube chassis. Not sure how far this one will go, I don't have the suspension or engine to complete this chassis. Edited October 23, 2023 by afx
