bobthehobbyguy Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 There seems to be issues for Chrome users and the page advances. What browser are you using? There are several posts on the topic.

Tom Geiger Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 I have the same issue on both Chrome and Edge on my laptop. I have Windows 11. It works fine on my iPhone.
Rob Hall Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Works fine on Safari on my Mac and on my iPhone.

Cleared cache, history, etc. makes no difference. I think we've beat this dead horse for awhile and I read they're working on it so I'm just gonna relax and give these guys some time. It is a goofy situation when it suddenly works for a day or two and then doesn't. Has to be tough to fix.
Len Woodruff Posted October 11, 2023 Author Posted October 11, 2023 Thanks Guys for the responses. I have Windows 10 Pro
Tom Geiger Posted October 11, 2023 Posted October 11, 2023 Len: I just upgraded to Windows 11 last week. This is the first time I've tried the board... could be a Windows 11 thing.

I did try clearing my cache but it didn't help, in fact, after doing that I had the pleasure of having to sign back in to everything I ever joined, including this forum and redoing settings on pages that needed it originally. A huge pain in the but for nothing. Funny that all our computers work normally on every other site we go to but it's our computers that have a problem, not this site.?

Do you see the problem we face when trying to diagnose issues like this? It is looking like we may need to do a major software update, that will add, remove, relocate many functions and will probably change the overall look of the forum. How happy is everyone going to be when that happens? 1
Bugatti Fan Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 Like the government official said to Mark Wahlberg when he was exonerated in the movie Shooter. 'Maybe that is just what it needs'. 1

bobthehobbyguy Posted October 15, 2023 Posted October 15, 2023 (edited) First off we don't know how many users are being affected. Maybe a poll would be in order. Second as it has been explained Dave is working on the problem with Invision. The board uses Invision software and that limits what can be done by Dave without their help. Third all of this takes time. Dave has suggested trying another browser such as Bing on windows or Safari on mac It shouldn't be that big of a deal to load another browser. It might be the quickest way to fix the problem at this time. Edited October 15, 2023 by bobthehobbyguy

No guarantee that it will fix the problem. I do get a chuckle with these reports though. It wasn't that long ago that everyone was complaining and didn't want us to implement this feature. Now everyone can't live without it. We'll see what happens after the update. For those that are wondering, it isn't as simple as hitting the "Update" button. Dave needs to backup the system, which is rather large and time consuming, needs to schedule an outage, needs to set aside a large chunk of his time to monitor the update (it isn't all automatic and requires input), and then he needs to troubleshoot after the update to fix minor settings issues. When that is all done, and the board is live again, he needs to be available to look into all of the complaints and bug reports you guys will be sending over the following weeks. Add to that, most updates force us to use something we don't want to or removes something that we like. Which always leads to the "Why did you do away with ?????, that is why I was coming here in the first place" or "OMG, I can't figure out how to do ????, I hate change and am never coming back here again" or something like that. That is why we hate updates, thanks for attending my TED talk. Expand An update is no trivial task and there is no guarentee that it's going to fix the problem. As Dave has advised in forum problems try another browser.

If you aren't certain that you have, there are many things happening on your computer without you even being aware. Automatic updates (of the OS and apps) happen all the time. I'm reading this forum on a Windows 7 machine and a Seamonkey. Bugatti Fan Posted October 16, 2023 Posted October 16, 2023 Bob, I saw your confused emoji. I was referring to a major software overhaul mentioned by Xingu in the post before mine when I used the phrase 'Maybe that's just what it needs' from the film Shooter as an analogy.
