AmericanMuscleFan Posted April 30 Posted April 30 Amazing that this all started with aluminum/brass rods and flat brass sheets. You are a magician my friend, the paint is superb as is the color choice! 👍
charlie libby Posted May 20 Author Posted May 20 long time no see. a lot of company and other appointments in between. not much work happening for 3 or 4 weeks, but some. a little wiring and battery install. maybe 2 full days of work left and the chassis will be ready for the body. cant wait to see how it looks. thanks for the compiments all of you. ill try to do better . had to do alittle touch up work
Bugatti Fan Posted May 25 Posted May 25 A scratch build of the finest order using traditional model engineering techniques. A bit intrigued with the Bugatti T41 assignment though as Bugatti's Royale was their Type 41 ?
charlie libby Posted May 28 Author Posted May 28 hi noel ,the t41 sport coupe was never built by Bugatti. it was thought up and draw by an artist in Argentina as what he felt the atlantic should have looked like. google it and see what shows up.here is a few pictures it is slowly coming together. the body is on temporarily toe check clearence .next week it will be on permanently.got the pedals and carpet in. i have to drill 3 holes i forgot in the firewall for wires. did the frontend alignment. i hope the body will be on early next week ,than i can finish inside and put on the doors. cant wait to see it all assembled. hope you had a nice memorial day. be back next week 3
Bugatti Fan Posted May 29 Posted May 29 (edited) Charlie . Thanks for coming back about the Argentinian's concept artwork that explains the T number. It's always interesting to see concept cars based on classics of the past. Lindbergh did a plastic kit of the Chrysler Atlantic concept car that had old Bugatti styling influences. Your model is well on the way to completion and it has made very interesting reading following your build. Model engineering in its truest form, and really looking forward to seeing it when completed. Edited May 29 by Bugatti Fan
Codi Posted May 29 Posted May 29 Spectacular Charlie. I'm more than impressed to say the least. cheers, tim
AmericanMuscleFan Posted June 1 Posted June 1 This is absolutely spectacular Charlie, it's simply in a class of its own! 👌
Pierre Rivard Posted June 4 Posted June 4 Catching up on this build after a prolonged absence. The body finishing is so so good and the black & red scheme is such a beautiful classic combo. seeing the body test fit on the chassis, it all integrates together in such a powerful way. An absolute delight for the eyes.
charlie libby Posted June 8 Author Posted June 8 working on finish assembly is slow and kind of scary. i dont want to damage ant thing and its quite difficult. to many parts and to many screws. had to modify the seat bottoms so i had to reupholster them got the doors back on and lined up. door handle and trunk handles are on. realized today i did not make inside window cranks and door handles not a big deal . i am trying to decide how to paint and install the front and rear glass. they are fitted just painting them is up in the air. andrew you don't need brakes in a car like this , who wants to stop or slow down. thanks for your comment mr. gibbs. hi bob come back anytime. francis always good to hear from you, your engine is awesome. going to miss you for the summer.tim i hope your bicep is properly healing. thanks for your comment rattlecan. pierre your nova is the best,i love it, have a great vacation. waiting for rb to catch up to place another order. thanks everbody, charlie
charlie libby Posted June 16 Author Posted June 16 heiio getting closer to putting the body on for good. decided to remove all the carpet . i did not paint it black on the inside so the red showed thru the carpet. soaked it in soapy water and all the elmers glue came off. it looks much better with black under it. made the door handles and window cranks this week and installed them . fitted the doors on . still not sure how to paint these little windows. would like to get the body in place to finish the brake lines and i little more wiring. 1
charlie libby Posted June 25 Author Posted June 25 hi micheal , thank you very much. hi andrew. it is going together pretty well so far only some minor issues.it is a slow process trying not to damage anything . i am waiting for some fasteners i have on order to be able to continue but i think it looks good so far. i bought this tamiya drill kit and it is great. i find it quite handy ,i would recommend it. not alot left to do. i am not sure i will attempt another project this large and time consuming . more to come soon thank for your time looking and commenting
Bugatti Fan Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Great progress. What woods did you use on your model Charlie ?
Pierre Rivard Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Roll up windows Charlie? Amazing! What's next, cranking up the engine? Seriously, this is all extraordinary craftsmanship. It's not just the skills, but the vision, dedication and persistence. You must be drained.
kensar Posted June 26 Posted June 26 Great looking progress, Charlie. I'm glad to see such an extensive project being completed - unlike most ambitious projects. The Tamiya drill looks interesting. Is the chuck a collet? Is it centered properly?
charlie libby Posted Friday at 10:57 PM Author Posted Friday at 10:57 PM assembly is slow.i re did a few parts, that took time. installing the front fenders and nose was frustrating and very time consuming .you cant really get at the screws with a screwdriver very well because of the angle that the fender runs down to the tiny screw head. you cant get the nuts on inside . it took 4 days and alot of swearing. but i got it.some details left, tail lights and fog lamps ,they are all made ,just need to install. front and rear glass as well. it is looking pretty good . a few places need more polishing. happy with it so far. hope to get it to a show somewhere this year. the drill is a collet and it is very well centered . i have used it many times and works well. i like roll up widows. all the wood is oak. 1
BK9300 Posted Saturday at 12:28 AM Posted Saturday at 12:28 AM All around, a very special accomplishment - you must be very proud of what you’ve created. Very well done!
MarkJ Posted Saturday at 01:18 PM Posted Saturday at 01:18 PM Charlie, there are no words that can be used to describe how awesome this creation is. I'm just glad I got to watch you through my computer screen put it together. Thank you for sharing it with us mere mortals.
