Never saw a street rod painted that outlandish candy grape or purple shlurp or whatever color that is. It looks very expensive. Must be for a show car or big bucks strip entry. Glad you're beatin' your brains out on the creative end. Sounds like you're enjoying what you're doing. And THAT says it all! All ahead warp factor 5 Soolu.

Well I wouldn’t say beating my brains out, more like giving a very strong workout, and maybe I’ve mixed in a couple of pan galactic gargle blasters to get the flux back in the core. Pipe down Scotty you’ve had the engines past warp 5 before ya mumbling Scottish bast…

Beautiful color choice!    Terrific work friend!

Carl thank you but that is not the colour for the roadster.

Well it’s been chaotic here that past couple of days so not a lot of progress. Sorting out the interior details. The floor pan that I grabbed from the box of parts did not have a gas pedal or enough room to mount one, so a little drilling was needed to move the pedals over enough to add a pedal( parts box find again). Made a driveshaft from styrene tube and the revell 32 driveshaft ends. De chromed a set of headers and got them in some flat white, I think that would be a good late fifties style.

And finally a reveal of the colour of the body.

Very nice…looks like Tamiya pearl green?

It is indeed Greg, I have many coats to lay down, I wanted to see how the colour looked.

Thanks Tim, I appreciate the comments.

Ok we are getting to the point of no return, engine fits, body goes on the chassis the same way every time. Time to offer up the wheels and see how it sits! Whoohoo!! It’s exactly like the mock-up stance and I’m pleased as punch with it. Still debating on colour matched steelies or an accent colour like racing white or even black. Thoughts or feedback on this would be good.

Wheels and tires are such a personal style thing. Staying with the body-colored wheels you could look at some old '48 Ford style dog dishes with or without beauty rings. Chrome wheels are always an option and would look good here. Just ideas, build it your way.

Ideas are always good, I’ll dig through my parts and try some different caps , thank you David.

While this may not seem like a worthy update, I’m certainly please as punch with how this seat came out, after shaving a mm or so off the bottom it still sat proud of the opening so adding a slim strip of styrene to the back and sanding filing it to shape it looks the part enough for me

All the small things!
Final detailing on suspension pieces today, It’s too cold to paint so that on hold for now. Goal for today is to have the frame all buttoned up and finally marry the wheels to those beautiful Buick brake drums. Progress has been hindered by the weather and those flippen bench squirrels! ?️

And then I find more headers to fit the olds and have offered them all up to see which ones look the best to me?

Well as I had hoped the frame and suspension are complete I won’t attach the steering til the body I painted. I still have to add the from shocks but that will also wait til I decide on what lights to use. Busy productive day at the bench.

Haha that's a great phrase. I have lots of them around my bench too.

Project is looking good. Since you asked I would actually think about an off white on the wheels.

Feel free to use that as much as you want Craig.

Been hovering around the bench a couple of minutes a night for a bit, tinkering, plotting and scheming for my next plan of attack on this model. I’ve been waiting for a good day to get to shoot the final coats on the body. In the meantime I did manage to get the headers mounted!

Ladies and gentleme(are there any ladies here?) we have achieved paint!! I’m pretty stoked how this round of paint went. Considering the ambient air temp outside today was +2c but the interior of the garage was +16 and Zero humidity. So I got paint laid on the remaining parts needing paint. Gonna let is gas out for a little then bring I inside and let it final cure inside in the warmer house. I might even give it a polish(have we done that before( no I don’t thinks so(should we try(maybe))))!
Bah it’s a hot rod not a show rod, shine don’t mean sh** from shinola. Now that I am nearing the end of this fantastic voyage of building this model I look into the contents of two kit boxes, and think to myself(self you got a lot of parts left over, is there enough to build another car?) Well the answer to that question and many more will be answered in the next installment of Bil builds a model Car. Til then enjoy these pics…

Alright alright alright! Today we( well I really mean just me) are back in action on the roadster. The parts box T is sitting quietly over in the shadow side of the bench for today. It’s down to the final details today. Started by mounting the body again to make sure we line up the grille shell in its proper height. Dang it looks good all shiny and proud up front. Yes I still have not mounted the front shocks as I still cannot decide on what lights to use. Still plenty of time before my deadline though( I actually did set a deadline) now with the depth of the channel we will have some interior issues to deal with ie the door panels to floor pan height. I have a tried and tested method for that, the floor pan has been narrowed by the width of the panels themselves so in theory( remember I said tried and tested earlier) the panels will slide down past the floor pan and every will just lock into place. I will be affixing the dash and interior panels to the body shell as opposed to the floor pan. Trust me it works!
more later.

Wow Great build !!!!

Spock suggest detailing the hubcaps scripts blue ,black, red, color on the car .

Logic logic logic, you pointy eared hobgoblin, Is that all you know? Thank you for the kind comment. I dispensed with logic and popular opinion and have gone with a light gold as lettering for the hubcaps. They still require a little black wash to bring out the highlights.
