Thanks for Posting that , Jesse.

I just watched.

I get the whole "Crawl before you Walk" bit, but that just does not inspire any interest on my part. The Clear plastic looks dodgy, the casting is rough, and the wood looks chaep, and poorly finished.

Johan, in any iteration now, seems to just wallow in Bad Luck, Poor Executions, and Awful Timing.

Do it Right, or just stop the bleeding.......

You can’t just leave it like that. Do tell.

I'd like to 'tell all' but I don't have lawyer money. If you want you can dig around on the net and find most of the drama surrounding Jo-Han right now.

Really? Nuthin'....nada....ungatz. Almost two years after that statement, the silence is still deafening. This seems more like vaporware than reality. The Atomic City Rod & Custom Model Car Resource FB page contains absolutely no info/updates about the allegedly resurrected Jo-Han. The only remotely interesting thing on that page is the "Like" for a FB page called "Braless Society".

It would be appreciated if anyone who posts any comments/replies which imply any sort of "insider" knowledge concerning this, or any other topic, to please provide facts which corroborate your assertions. Otherwise, it looks like you're just yankin' our chains. Sorta reminds me of....

Since some of you only watched the video and did not read the comments, here is one from Okey Spalding posted to this video.

"Steve, thank you for the kind words about my latest JoHan kit. A minor sorta semi-correction, while the 79 Caddy was the last "new" tool (actually a re-worked 77/78) , I brought out three kits between 2000 and 2002. The reissued 75 Olds Cutlass, multi-option 1959 Rambler wagon, and a snap kit of the Chrysler Turbine car. The Turbine had been a promo, but never a kit. I had reissued the Rambler wagon as a stock only kit under the ACCUCAST brand. However, the 2001 issue of the JoHan Rambler kit was a multi-option build which included custom parts, police parts, and three sheets of decals. On a side note, You did not mention the 3D printed parts that come in the pre-production kit of the Powell. We rushed to get it out for the NNL, so maybe we forgot to include them! AAARRRGGGHHH!! You should have 3D printed door handles, side mirrors, the grille bars, gas cap, and three tiny tiny "Powell" scripts. If they are missing, contact me and we will send them as soon as the second batch is run. We are getting ready to run 20 more kits that will hopefully be ready by mid July. And yes, the guy working on the instruction sheet is not yet finished. But if any modeler has an issue, my card is in each pre-production kit."

Huh?!? What's with the cryptic comments? Whaddyamean "lawyer money"? Just like thatz4u's "more news coming in 2024,  trailers now, surprises later..."comment, there is no there there. There ain't no "drama" to dig up concerning "Jo-Han USA Oldies LLC", only general, non-informative B.S.Just more vague generalities which explain nothing. Sounds like a copout, man. If the information you have is corroborated by what's on the web, you don't have to worry about a lawsuit. You were in the game long enough to know this, Dave.

OK....

IF....IF you have read all the posts in this thread you will find in the first post by Mr Boyd about  ownership statement for the Jo-Han model car brand. Three people are named as the new owners.

Then during Steve Magnate video he states 'Okey Spalding, owner of Jo-Han Models'........

BOTH can not be true at the same time.

So I am not stirring up dram or useless BS. Trying to inform that if this topic is or interest you can search just a little and learn what is going on.  One of the new owners, Jack Higgins, is a personal friend so I am not going to TELL people some info I know behind the curtain. Ask Tim Boyd, Steve Goldman etc if they sometimes have info they can't post but might be out there if you look around.

Sorry if I confused any of you. Thanks

Great, you have a friend who has some skin in the game. There was absolutely no reason to say you know something but can't tell us since you won't compromise any confidences by divulging any information obtained from private conversations. That being the case, there is no need for you to play the "Nyah, nyah, I know something you don't know" game unless you're looking for attention.

Note that I never wrote that you were creating any drama about this nonsense.

Your words:

"If you want you can dig around on the net and find most of the drama surrounding Jo-Han right now."

"So I am not stirring up dram or useless BS"

Mine:

"There ain't no "drama" to dig up concerning "Jo-Han USA Oldies LLC", only general, non-informative B.S."

I don't see that you mentioned in connection with that remark.

Getting a chuckle out of this.  Don't forget that whether you're talking about the Atomic City "Johan USA Oldies" company or the Okey Spaulding "Johan" company, both currently exist only as resin/aftermarket companies.

Yet this thread and others remain in this section instead of the Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed section, simply because of the magical power of the Johan name.

I'm glad you're excited by and satisfied with the Powell. I'm deeply, DEEPLY, unimpressed by it. Frankly, it doesn't quite seem to measure up to late 90's/early 00's cast resin kits like from Etzels, Modelhaus, Fisher, or Mini Exotics. It certainly in no way compares to 3D printed kits/transkits from sources like C1, Red Wheel, MiniRetro, or the several sources currently printing kits designed by Andrey Bezrodny.

And frankly, thanks to Andrey, now I certainly have ZERO reason to be interested in Johan's plastic input as he's given us an AMX that isn't laughably terrible. May be an image of toy

I am cool with it!

What kit DOESN'T require sandpaper an razor blades an fitting?

I'm a builder, those things have never bothered me much..

Also, the Powell that is currently available, in small batches, is essentially a pre-production prototype, so, I'd always assume that a kit of that description would still be in need of refinement here an there..

It's still a kit of an obscure American vehicle, that NOBODY else has, nor even thought of, and THAT makes it really, really, really cool!

Outside of the box thinking, and I hope Okeys got a hundred more unique kit subjects comin down the line for us..

ALSO, that AMC AMX kit of yours is pretty rad!

Johan had a display at the NNL East. I passed it more than a few times during my feeding frenzy.

Not one person was at their table any time I looked over that way.

I was at the NNL East also, I waited 10 minutes just to buy a couple of their shirts while the vendor explained and showed the Powell kit and what was included in it to a couple modelers who then placed orders for the kits. That was actually the second time I stopped at the Johan table, the first time he was busy then too, I just didn't feel like waiting.

Well, I wasn't even aware there was progress on the Powell kit.  Interesting to note.

And, yes, we have a few unrelated entities bearing the JoHan name, leading to confusion.

Someone should revive the Palmer trademark.  😄

Except this Powell has been in pre-production for more than 2 years now. Last year he had flyers all over the venue, including the bathroom touting it and then didn't actually have any available because of some excuse or another.

At some point a product ceases being a "beta" prototype and just is the product you're getting, particularly if there isnt financial wherewithal to produce a better product. If that product floats your goat, then by all means by the heck out of it and support Okey. But it is what it is at this point.

The some excuse or another thing is incorrect..

The first 1/25 scale prototype of the Powell, as well as a ludicrously cool 1/18 scale build of it, were both stolen at said show..

Thus causing a huge, and I think, obvious, set-back in production as neither turned up, and resulting in the entire project having to be started over from scratch..

It's the kind of thing that kills projects in the making, and it's pretty cool that we're able to get it now at all..

I don't understand the mindset of the thief, just, in general, but also, after stealing it, you couldn't ever show it to anyone or whatever, because those that know things would instantly know where it came from..

Anyway, doesn't matter what I think really, other than, YO, this thing is undeniably cool, and yall should get hold of one if you can!

This kit is nothing I would really want. It is a Niche type kit that a few want, but not all of us.
