I started on the interior. This kit came with a sheet meant to be cut into 2mm strips to make seatbelts.

tf4tbOY.jpeg

It also came with hardware for the buckles.

I'm going with a tan interior with a black dash and carpet.

Another cool feature of this kit is that the floor trim is molded separately from the floor pan. It makes it a lot easier to have a different color carpet like many of the 1:1 cars do.

More next time.

Well it looks like I’m taking one step forward and two steps back. And I’m not very fast at building as it is. Some days I spend more time looking for parts that hit the floor. I finally have the new rear leaf springs and rear axle in place. Just need to mount the shocks. I’ve got the front and rear tires and wheels sorted out. Not quite sure about the stance. The body is stripped of the old paint, scripts and side marker lights sanded off and ready for paint. I had the engine just about done but when I went to do a final fit I found out the headers were hitting the front sub frame and would not sit right. The air intake was hitting the fan shroud and the bell housing is too tight against the fire wall. It’s time to break out the dremel tool and make some adjustments. Once I get the engine mounted I’ll decide which hood I’m going to use. As long as it sits properly I’m leaning towards the stinger hood. I’ve got the new rear back up lights made. My front grill is about half way cut out for the new PE grill.

Now for a few pictures

I’ve got something sort of unique in mind for the painting of the body. I’ll save the details of that until the end

An interesting fun fact I found out was that the first generation Camaros shared the same frame and undercarriage as the Nova.

I’m sure glad I’ve got until November to get this done

Well, It's been nearly two years since I've done any model building. Another hobby has occupied me. I think maybe it's time to clear off my bench and get back to it. I think I'll throw my hat in the ring here if that's okay. A build like this with fairly minimal mods seems like a good way to ease back into it. Sign me up for an AMT 1967 Impala. It looks like a nice kit. Lots of detail. I think my mods will be a wheel and disc brake upgrade, a scratch-built EFI intake on the kit 427, and some headers. Paint will be the real challenge.

Glad to see you're still kickin' Rob. I was beginning to wonder if you'd drop by somewhere along the line. The Impala's a pretty good kit. I started one years ago but it's buried so deep I think I need to take off a corner of the house to get to it.

Yep. Still around. Just not around these parts. About two years ago, my modeling ADHD was kicking my butt pretty hard to the point where I got burned out. So I started doing a little fiction writing. I've been pretty deep in that now for about a year and a half. But lately, I've been looking at the stash and the state my hobby room has devolved into, and I think it's time to clean up the cobwebs.

The seventeenth running of the Cannonball CBP. Man, that is pretty darn cool. I never would have dreamed it.

We're having some unexpectedly warm weather this week. Today it was almost 90! Looks like it'll stay in the 70s the rest of the week so I'm taking advantage of it. I've been searching for a good color for #17, the Night Train Ford Expedition. I wanted something low-key and really like Destroyer Gray as seen on some Chryslers. By accident I found a Rustoleum dark gray that in the sun matches the Charger down the street almost exactly.

I also got the engine together and painted, and I've got to plug Texas 3D. This is a good product. I've ordered from him and from Iceman and never been disappointed!

I'm having an issue with the creative juices and desire with the mustang.

If it would be alright with the powers that be, I'd like to change my entry.

I've had this in the stash for long while, and I think I'm ready to bust it open.

I built the factory stock version years ago.  Good kit.👍

I spent quite a lot of time today test fitting before coming to the conclusion that a 1/24th scale twin turbo Boss Coyote engine does not go easily into a 1/25th scale Ford Expedition. If I had thought ahead, I wouldn't have gone to so much trouble to build an engine bay. So far I've ground a huge amount of the front frame away along with a bunch of that engine bay. Even then it's going to be close. Sadly, it looks like a lot of the detail Texas 3D put into that engine is going to be hidden once everything is in place.

I have a set of low profile tires on Porsche wheels I was planning on using, but I'm having second thoughts. I have a set of offroad/all season tires on Jeep wheels that I'm starting to like.

😜 Great minds think alike! I’ve just been assembling the Callaway Corvette twin turbo engine to attempt to shoehorn it into the El Camino. So far it’s not looking like an easy fit🧐

Good luck. The Calloway Corvette Sledgehammer was one of my dream cars back in the day!
